Where was the “party” on Al Franken? Where was the “party” on Bob Menendez? This is a fun game. We should have a thread called “Where’s The Party?” to expose hypocrisy.
has nothing to do with the vote. did you read about his breakdown in the meeting with the teachers union? his outbursts at the airline attendant and pilot telling him to fasten his seat belt? showing your hyperpartisan stripes again
I don’t disagree that he is running contrary to many on the left re: Israel, but have you read all the incidents involving Fetterman? While I also agree he initially “recovered” he seems to be regressing.
They are all pretty much based on the NY Mag article reporting which revolves around a letter his former Chief of Staff sent last year, who is also friends with the author. They also heavily rely on unnamed staffers, and there are reports that many of them are very upset about Fetterman's pro-Israeli stance and have left his office because of it. Remember that staffers tend to be much more ideological than their members and this conflict is a very big issue for Democratic staffers. Over 400 of them in the Biden White House signed a letter demanding a ceasefire. Biden administration staff sign open letter demanding cease-fire in Israel-Hamas war
So the car wreck, airplane incident, and teacher’s union blow up didn’t happen in your mind or you don’t think they’re indicative of anything?
I think they are indicative of what Fetterman is actually like, going back to when he was a deputy mayor. The guy has always been more than a little strange and does weird things.
I kind of take exception to this comment. The mind is a complex thing, and different parts of the brain can cause different results. To the extent that higher executive functioning decays and more basil parts take over, I don’t think that is an indication of “true self”. Also some people may have grown up with learned biases but as they aged gained broader exposure and changed their perspective. Alzheimer’s or dementia may cause more recent thought processes to fade but retain the prior biases. Again I don’t think that means the initial young biases person is the “true self”.
While unorthodox it seems he knew what he was doing and was very clear minded about it. I’m not taking a stand either way on his current mental state.
It does seem to take off the filter in some ways (I've seen it make it make one family member more saucy and sexual), but I don't know if that represents anything of their true nature. As far as I know, she was never like that, ever. And she was from a time when no one was really that forward or open about those things.
totally agree but i go further and disagree with the whole notion of “true nature”. We all have numerous conflicting thoughts and motivations being driven but a history of environmental and biological factors. Those biological and environmental factors change. For a type 1 manic depressive - is the true nature the mania, the depressive phase, in between or a medicated regulated self?
I agree I was just reusing the words from the previous post. I think the idea that we have in us a "true nature" is dubious. I've often said here any of us is capable of terrible things if put into the right circumstances and/or upbringing.
This is cute. April, 2023. Once again Feinstein was fine looking out of it for the Kavanaugh hearings, but once her she started harming the confirmation of Biden judges; “Well sorry Diane, we need you to go sit over there. But don’t worry we’ll be sending Joe over to sit with you as soon as can’t read a prompter without squinting. Unfortunately, asking a 90 year old to wait for something doesn’t turn out. Feinstein was perfectly fine until she stopped being an asset.
I’ll go further in that I generally avoid the characterization of someone is “evil”. I see them as being the sum total of their environmental and biological/genetic influences. Having said that a person may be irredeemable in terms of being able to safely or constructively operate in society. We tend to draw arbitrary lines. You may qualify for a specific diagnosis and be deemed mentally ill, and as such perhaps held less responsible for your own actions. But somebody with many of the same characteristics but not fitting the formal diagnosis may be viewed as evil. Someone with an IQ of 76 can probably be executed and an IQ of 69 you are intellectually disabled and probably can’t.
You can make the case that the Dems are slow to act, but at least they do eventually act unlike Republicans.
Which republican, obviously impaired from a stroke has ever been covered for by the media and the party? Which republican president or candidate has wondered off the stage lost, squinted to read a teleprompter, or had a total brain fart that caused a long pause followed by a statement that didn’t tie to what they were saying before the pause. You, me, and everyone here knows the the media would ever cover for a pub or Indy like that
