Why do companies order from China? Price. Even with shipping costs, because of labor costs, items from China are cheaper. Meaning, prices will rise.

It is also unlikely, if not impossible that American manufacturers will be able to keep up with demand. And supply shortages also lead to higher prices. It's basic supply and demand.

So by working, you think causing inflation/higher prices is the goal, then yes, tariffs will work. Question is, how will Americans tolerate the higher prices? Didn't work well post COVID.

Why do you post this propaganda non-sense? Everyone, from Sec Bessent to every CEO to every one else knows US companies were binge ordering to load up on inventory before the heaviest tarrifs were put in place. Further, now over 40% of cargo haulers are returning to the US empty and the US will be in a massive crisis by the end of summer.

The only thing the tarrifs are succeeding at is destroying the personal wealth, and livlihood for tens of millions of Americans.

And yes, I am snarkier than even normal being at one of those "American manufacturing" companies who had to walk 2 really good employees today because of Trump's ignorant BS and Musk's mission to destroy the power of the American worker.

I don't think most Americans, especially older Americans truly understand what's about to happen. The 80s-2020 was a great time for the boomers, minus a 2 year blip in 08.

The last time the world was in this much turmoil was the 1930s. We all know what happened after...

While traveling by car during one of his many overseas travels, Professor Milton Friedman spotted scores of road builders moving earth with shovels instead of modern machinery. When he asked why powerful equipment wasn’t used instead of so many laborers, his host told him it was to keep employment high in the construction industry. If they used tractors or modern road building equipment, fewer people would have jobs was his host’s logic.

“Then instead of shovels, why don’t you give them spoons and create even more jobs?” Friedman inquired.
