    So much wrong huh???

    1. Damn near all manufacturing requires specific tooling and craftsmanship. If it didn’t people would make their shoes, tires, and condoms in their garages. Cutting materials and sewing and binding parts together is not hard shit.

    2. I have nothing against corporate profits but companies have to protect themselves for long term success and diversify their supply chains to include some vertical supply of differentiating technologies and parts. It has been well known decades that China has been stealing IP from companies utilizing their cheap labor. The shoe companies were too seduced by high profits and now they are in a little bit of a pickle. I simply said I find it difficult to feel sorry for them.

    3) Your (you libbies) pandemic was the wake up call for heavy reliance on China. Either you slept through the call or 5(FIVE, Cinco) years wasn’t long enough to implement your three year plan.

Pretty sad that we're at the point where we have to trust statements from China over our own president, but here we are:

Yeah, stupid companies going with low bidders for the sake of profit.

We are about a year away from every right winger having to adopt the arguments of hardcore lefties on college campuses from the early 90s. The proletariat will rise to stick it to these capitalist pigs trying to make them wage slaves.

Been to many factories have you? Nope is the answer obviously.

This is universally the dumbest act ever executed.

No one cares where shit is made. If they did they would already be buying American. You don’t. Why?

"Make all shoes cost $200" would make for quite a $100 hat.

Our President is a moron. It's just an objective fact at this point.

Therefore. In a certain way. I guess. If you don't stop to think about it. Ignoring all common sense. Shunning logic. We saved a tillion buckaroos! Biden didn't do that.

I run 11 factories with a Supply Chain from dozens of countries. You’re in Communications. Do you really want to keep going on this?

Lol. You are decades retired so I am guessing horse buggy assembly was its own challenge back then.

Your argument is that it is easy to move every single factory you can think of because they all use tools and people. That is brilliant. Maybe email Nike about how easy making footwear is and how easily transferable it is. If it was easy and seamless they would have done it. Many industries have.

I am not in communications which is another thing you got wrong but ive lost count at this point.

Even if you believe this will all work out it's a year away at this rate. Actually, infinite at this rate since you have to divide by zero.

The clock is ticking down to zero, and Trump needs a trade deal — badly

But as the weeks roll on with no deal in sight, the Trump administration risks inflicting serious economic damage that could quickly turn into a US and global recession. America’s aggressive trade war has already sent the US economy into reverse. Last week’s quarterly report on gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the US economy, showed America’s first contraction since early 2022, as an otherwise-healthy economy was dragged down by companies stockpiling goods to get ahead of tariffs.

And that was the first quarter — before the most aggressive trade policy had taken effect.

The slow-as-molasses pace of striking any kind of compromise on trade doesn’t bode well for the ultimate prize: a détente with China. With tariffs of at least 145% on Chinese imports, and a 125% retaliatory tariff by China on US goods, trade has all but stopped with one of America’s most important economic partners.

That means America is just days away from pandemic-like supply chain disruptions that could lead to higher prices and empty store shelves.

I personally think it is worth it as long as the millions of Americans standing by patiently to put tiny screws into Iphones will finally have their dreams realized.

Much to your chagrin, I am still one of those old dogs that companies pay a lot of money to stick around to keep the idiocies and dreams of people who don’t know shit from F’ing up companies. As far as the complexities of the things I build, I don’t think any horse and buggy equipment was manufactured on Multi million dollar machines that can hold tolerances within 1/100th of an inch, on exotic and expensive materials were scrap is unacceptable due to both schedule and cost constraints.

In your fervor to find wrong in my posts(or is it just an intense desire to look foolish) you have connected dots without following the numbers. As you can see on this forum, you are not alone in doing that.

I’ve never said that it was easy to move every factory. In fact it is just the opposite. It is an unpopular proposal when made to people like you who can’t see past next quarter that there is a strategic advantage to building a moat around your business. As long as cheap labor is available from cartels, and communist governments, or often friendly governments, why invest in securing your business. Well the answer is because the supply of those things is often more volatile than people think. Ask oil companies how it was when governments in Iran and Venezuela flipped over to dictatorships and the wells and refineries were nationalized.

Automating shoe manufacturing is not done because it isn’t technically possible. It isn’t done because so far the shoe companies have been quite successful in finding slave labor. There will be a time, when a company with good marketing chops like Nike, will also automate their factories. Then they will be No. 1.

I’ve also never advocated for moving all factories here. That would be just as foolish because the next time Dems get control of the government they will start over again with their mandates and material bans. My position is based on diversity of supply chain. Apple had a plan and were developing a capability to build SOME of their own chips before covid. It was a smart call given the inabilities of getting chips during and after covid. Yes, I did bold”SOME” so you would go all or nothing again.

Kodak developed the first digital camera but didn’t run with it because of fear of reduced film sales. Xerox developed the first PC but didn’t run with it out of fear of it hurting their word processing business. Being beholden to cheap labor provided by questionable commie dictators is just as shortsighted as these two examples.

We're about to see some real WINNING!!!!!

The first boats carrying Chinese goods with 145% tariffs are arriving in LA. Shipments are cut in half. Expect shortages soon

American consumers are on the cusp of tough choices because of President Donald Trump’s trade war.

Ships now pulling into US harbors from China are the first to be subject to the massive tariffs that America is imposing on most Chinese imports. That means, in a matter of weeks, consumers will face higher prices and shortages of certain items.
