Don't think the drop off will be that great, Byrd is pretty physical herself, and probably a better defender, I thought Martin was a bad defender (slow). Looks like Flo has 1 OH hitter nailed down, let's see who gets the 2nd, plenty of options. Middles and setters are Good 2 Go. Losing KM won't be the thing that holds us back, that's still passing.
Super disappointed, but not mad. Very different scenario than Beason’s departure. Could have been the GOAT of UF volleyball, but I’m sure the $$$ couldn’t be ignored .
Even before all the portal/NIL stuff, I always felt it was fair game for kids to change schools whenever there was a coaching change. I wouldn't presume that it's about money if there's other factors that could be at play, just my two bits. Best of luck to Kennedy so long as her interests don't conflict with ours. I guess we will never know. And I know you didn't ask me, but I suspect if Wise was still here, other schools may not have bothered to inquire, assuming she wasn't going anywhere. Once Wise retired, anyone of "value" on our team probably received calls from other schools.
There is a 30 day window for transfer after a coaching change. No one took that opportunity. It is probably about money, but I do not know that for a fact. I think if we were offered a significant amount of money to transfer, we would consider it. That amount is different according to each individuals financial circumstances, but there is a figure. A lot of fans criticised Denzel for transferring to Kentucky. But 2 million speaks in a very loud voice.
The hiring process wasn't fully complete (2/20) until two weeks after Mary retired (2/6). It would be prudent to go through the Spring work if you are genuinely interested in giving the new staff a chance. For those players, the 30-day limit means nothing when there is a portal you can use beyond the 30-day limit. Besides, academically speaking, it doesn't make sense to leave in the middle of the semester. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
This will be OT to some. Cary's wife, Sharon, is the Gator Attack Club president. He is the tech guy of the club. For those of you who come to matches, he bought the large inflatable volleyball with the membership table and a picture magnet. As a deputy sheriff for many years, he has taught radKIDS, a children's safety education program. He also teaches self-defense to women. Our Church does three food distributions per month, and he lends his presence for one of them. I would encourage you to stop by and meet him and to join GAC. The club supports the team and has some nice perks, such as meetings with the team and a Coach's Corner before some matches.
