Gene Seroka, Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles. Starting this coming week, the Port of LA will see ~ 1/3 the normal shipping volume. Yikes....so much WINNING on the way.
https://www.wsj.com/business/tariffs-china-ryan-petersen-small-business-35f99669?mod=mhp This CEO in logistics who is regarded as an expert on such issues says the impact is going to be painful. (Flexport CEO actually mentioned in the video above ) “If they don’t change the tariffs, it’s going to be an extinction-level, asteroid-wiping-out-the-dinosaurs kind of event,” he told me. “Only these aren’t dinosaurs. These are dynamic, healthy businesses.” He knows this because those businesses are his customers. If the tariffs on Chinese goods continue at this rate, he says, thousands of American companies will fail and millions of employees will lose their jobs. But since the tariffs took effect, ocean-freight bookings from China to the U.S. have dropped 60%, Petersen says. In response, containership operators are shrinking their boats and canceling trips altogether. It takes a while for downstream consequences to flow through the system—but logistics nerds can look at the data on their screens and see into the future. If tariffs continue at this rate, Petersen says, it’s only a matter of time before that asteroid hits
I don't know. These people may have experience in this, but Trump was really good on The Apprentice. Also, Trump said this; “Some people on Wall Street say that we’re going to have the greatest economy in history. Why don’t you talk about them? Because some people on Wall Street say this is the greatest thing to ever happen,” Trump said in an interview clip from “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker” released on Friday.
At what point do the White House, Project 2025, and Heritage Foundation folks have their "oh crap we've really messed up" moment?
So the days of driving that big suv or lifted truck down to wally world to buy a bunch of cheap shit made in chine are over? Whatever shall we do?
The sad part on tariffs is, Trump, best negotiations ever, making progress Xi, who? We no talk to orange man Who do you believe?
Fun fact: The Chinese are credited with being the first culture to invent toilet paper (approx 1500 years ago.) They will be just fine. Americans, I'm not so sure
People are forgetting the 10% tariffs. If you are a small business that works on thin margins then the extra 10% can put you out of business. This is an issue that goes well beyond China
I posted pics a week ago of empty West Coast ports and wa meant by comments on the weather. We're literally shooting ourselves in the head.
