Will thunderstorms impact the final game of the series start time? If the front makes it through Gainesville, there likely will be thunderstorms with multiple inches of rain. The leading edge of the front is at Panama City and is rapidly moving eastward.
I'm not being critical just stating facts. Last year KO batted 457 in conference play and this year 301. JE batted 431 in conference play and this year 213. Those numbers are shocking to me. ERA is about the same. This year 4.32 and last year 4.12. Please don't shoot the messenger.
My best guess: National seed locks: Ok, aTm, Tex, Tenn, FSU Probable: Oregon, UCLA, UF or ARK Possibles: TT Az Assuming 5 SEC National Seeds: UF would get.a 6 or 7 Seed and ARK a 9 seed (and Vice Versa.) Assuming 4 SEC National Seeds: UF would get a 9 seed and Ark a 10 (again vice versa.) I believe we are in excellent position what ever happens. When we win our regional, we will likely avoid the top SEC teams in the Super Regioal and head to OKC.
With a SOS of 1 and an RPI of 2, UF will be a top 8 national seed. That's not counting the game against OU today or the SEC tourney. The Gators will be home for regionals and super regionals. I also think Oregon or UCLA will be a top 8 seed, but not both.
I agree that our SOS and RPI are strong enough for a top eight seed; however, I think a win tonight solidifies it.
The Gators are going to see Sam Landry tonight. The Gators need to be ready for that drop ball and change up tonight. if we can hit them, we’ve got this tonight!
USC beat Bama this morning in the completion of the suspended game which means Bama can't move ahead of us no matter tonight's game. Would be nice to see Bama take the second game to ensure USC doesn't move ahead of us. If USC takes the second game and we lose both of us would have 11 losses and I don't know what the tie breaker would be.
BTW....this league is such a grind on everyone but especially freshmen who have never encountered something like this no matter how elite they previously played. Vandagriff is a stud at Bama but in the last few weeks she has dropped from about .450 to down to .400 and falling.
My thoughts are we are 1 good lockdown pitcher from a championship this year. We have plenty of hitting. One fact that demonstrates this is we've had 11 games where we scored 3 runs or less. In those 11 games, our record is 3-8. When our hitting is off for a night, our pitching can't keep pace. Not blaming anyone for this, but that's our reality. Hopefully one of our pitchers gets hot and we surprise everyone moving forward.
Defense has been a problem all year. Our fielding % is now at .971 (up a little from where it was a couple of weeks ago), but our 42 errors are 5th worst in the SEC. Usually under Tim Walton we're among the nation's leaders in fielding. Arkansas leads the SEC at .983.
Well, that makes us up 3-2 over the mighty Oklahoma in the last five games. I think we end up 6th. LSU let us down by dropping the last two to Arkansas and we lose the tie breaker with Arky.
This league is absurd. I'm sure none of us are jumping up and down with a 14-10 regular season.....but.....listen up.....the league champ lost 7 and we just took two from them and probably should have swept except not capitalizing on numerous chances in the first game.
For those who are good at reading the committee's tea leaves ....are we a lock for a top 8 seed and host Super Regionals with the series win over Oklahoma? I gotta make travel plans.
I was just looking at projections, and even before this series we were the 3 seed in one of them, 6 in the other. We have the #1 SOS, our RPI is 2 and our ELO is 7. Would probably take a tank in the SEC tournament and some of the teams around us to make runs to keep us out.
