Do you have a Real ID?

Havent people had like a decade to get this done? Cant wait to see videos Karens complaining because they cant get on a flight. I know where I work, they only accept Real ID from visitors. No Real ID, no visit

a passport can be used instead of a real ID. Real ID is a drivers license issued where you prove who you are and where you live (ie, you need supporting documentation like birth certificate and utility bill)

 

Thanks. I was wondering if something crazy was now required where they needed a retna scan, voice print, or butt hole measurement, etc.

 

A Florida drivers license is real ID. Anyone know if the Georgia DL is real ID? Moving to Sautee Nacoochee in 4 weeks.

We've had that citizen star for quite some time now... in the state of Florida.

 

We already have a 99.9% compliance rate with Real ID, which leads the country. All permanent drivers licenses since 2012 have been Real ID compliant.

 

Yes, and Sautee/Nacoochee is a beautiful area. We did a weekend in October at The Stovall House in Sautee every year with the same 5 families for almost 2 decades, but the proprietor sold about a decade ago. I think the restaurant may have reopened. Was a wonderful place for the kids growing up. .

 

Haven't gotten my real ID driver's license yet (waiting until my current license expires in October) although I do have a passport which is considered an acceptable ID by the TSA.

I don’t think this will make any difference in anything. The number one use of fake IDs is for underage drinking. Real IDs are just as easily faked as non real IDs. The instances of people going to the drivers license bureau and getting a fake id is tiny. Too easy to order a Chinese made one.

I’d argue about privacy concerns but quite honestly we’ve already given up our privacy to capitalists so the government is late to the game.

 

Actually, the Passport Card that you can apply for and obtain for $30 is a Real ID Card. Your driver's license carries an indicator that at the time of renewal you also provided the credentials for a Real ID and thus the license also acts as a Real ID.

I just received my renewed Passport and the Passport Card in the mail.

 

This is why I'm against the real ID. It's essentially a toned down version of a national ID. But like you said, when we all carry around smart phones, we've already given up our privacy.

Kentucky, where my parents live, is a complete clusterf*ck at this point. Last state to even issue real ID's. My dad told me that it's a month or two out before you can even get an appointment at the DMV, and when you go there it's a 4 to 6 hours wait. And if one thing is wrong, you get to go home and rebook a new appointment a month or two.

My mom literally saw a woman get screwed over because the DMV couldn't finish the process by 5 p.m., so they made her leave and reschedule.

It's estimated that only 40% of adults in Kentucky currently have a real ID. Neither my mom or dad do, so they will just be using their passport. They aren't even bothering with trying to get a real ID at this point.

The big airports in Kentucky (Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky and Louisville) are going to be complete sh*tshows.

Since I'm in Florida, it doesn't really matter. But I have a Passport and a Passport Card so I'm all set. I'll probably start bringing that with me to be safe.
