I don't think it's a locker room issue. I think it's just that our ACE missed some time, hasn't quite been herself this year, and nobody else has seized the role. Infield defense has certainly contributed to the pitching woes as well. It's not like they're just laying down though. We took the number one team in the country into extra innings and had the chance to put them away multiple times. This is still a really good team, that has the opportunity to be great.
Yeah I know. Injuries I know. Toughest most brutal schedule in the country whilst trying to overcome injuries I know. Point is so many opportunities to build a lead early and didn’t. So many opportunities to walk it off late and didn’t. And Oklahoma played poorly. Unfair amount of adversity for this team this season but the opportunity to win is still there, somebody has to make it happen. Nothing will be gifted. Fire forges steel, it can also break it. The choice is up to these young ladies. Be forged into Excalibur or broken by the fire. I’m probably hallucinating from dehydration, apologies
Hat’s off for Korbe and Reagan who graduate this weekend and a”DOUBLE DOFF’” to Reagan who has really up her game since the Ole Miss series. She’s getting on base regularly-just need to move her around to score. Now a question: In my warped mind, it seems Keegan gets a lot of early two strike counts only to end up using a lot of pitches before the at-bat is complete. Often, it seems, the pitches called are wasted pitches or finesse pitches that miss. My question is why not attack while the pressure is on the batter. If they hit her best pitch, so be it. I sometimes think the pitching coach with all her analytics is less qualified to call pitches than pitcher/catcher. Another note. Using Gabi as a pinch runner took away the option to use her as pinch hitter for Kenleigh. Bet the coaches wish they had saved her.
There’s a very distinct difference between frustration and legitimate criticism versus the blatant and intentional negativity brought by this individual under their various random number generated names. Unfortunately this individual will always return. I imagine it trolls all softball forums not just ours. Perhaps it has no team of its own. Why does it care so much about trolling softball forums? Probably because we’re generally nice and it can’t take the heat from football/basketball forums. Those guys are mean lol.
Also, Erickson & Otis had All American years last year and put up gaudy numbers. Their numbers are down significantly this season and that's hurt a lot. Cahalan, to me, has struggled mightily in SEC games, whereas true freshman Ariel Kowalewski, as a true freshman, was stellar. Combine those offensive dips with the infield de3fnesive problems and Rothrock's 5 week absence and her problems since coming back, we can all understand somewhat why we're not fighting it out with Oklahoma & Texas at the top of the SEC and the nationally polling like how we started the season.
In a way it’s honestly pretty impressive the team is still in the position it’s in despite all the hardships, wins that slipped away and inflated perhaps expectations which I’m certainly guilty of. That said it’s time to put up or shut up. Be like Nike. Just do it!
I haven't been following closely. I know who you are talking about. I think. Did this guy disappear again? He got banned and came back proudly flying his "banned" flag. (Sheesh...what do you have to do to get banned here?) He and I have gotten into it three or four times. He would just throw out insanely stupid criticisms that didn't match any truth on the field and then would challenge anyone and everyone to not say they weren't somewhat discouraged by the ups and downs of the season. As if that somehow made up for his criticisms that seemed nothing more than an overt attempt to rile everyone up.
I was at KSP last night. We lost. Tonight, I was only able to check score updates and not watch in any capacity. We won. I will be there tomorrow, and I’ll give it one inning before I let my crazy superstitions take over. So, if the first inning doesn’t go well, I’ll be the one with a blindfold on and earplugs in, hiding from all of the action (location TBD)… just tap me every once in a while and I’ll take out an earplug just long enough for a score update.
Anyhow, UF is 2-2 against the "all and mighty" Oklahoma in the last four games. And it took two extra innings to beat us twice.
Not sure I have this correct so feel free to get it right. We need Ole Miss and LSU to win today. With a win we could finish 5th in the league. Possible we could end up 9th if we lose. Which is nuts considering we likely will get a Top 8 seed in the country but could be 9th in our own league.
Just catching up after not checking in here yesterday. That said, let me get this straight, re. OU softball fans. Posters on other sites that passive aggressively respond to other posters. That don't know the definition of the word opinion. Routinely have consecutive forum posts where they tell six different people their opinion is wrong. That always have to have the last word. That's bad, and they should be put in time out? Or even banned from a site? But, a GC member that posts on literally every forum, doing the exact same things, shouldn't be encouraged to pump the brakes? For context. A few weeks ago. I had a post, along with a few replies to it, removed by someone at GC. Best I can gather, it was for using the term "I miss the good old days". Which was maybe deemed borderline political. Though that's a guess, since I didn't get any kind of notification. Sadly, I just accepted it as a sign of the upside down times we currently live in. Yet, there are non-GC staff and moderators on here that have 60K+ posts. Let that sink in. The infinite monkey(s) theorem reimagined.
