    I just saw it reported on tv, apparently he was the one who added the journalist to the signal chat.

    If it was ultimately about the Signal chat, his lack of contrition and finger pointing at everyone else warranted his removal. Good on Trump.

    Obviously there was going to be a “fall guy”.

    Problem with firing “the guy who added the journalist to the signal chat”: NONE of them should have been using signal chat!

    While that description may be applicable to Waltz it's much more applicable to Hegseth and he will continue to hold the position as Secretary of Defense even though he is much less qualified for that position than was Waltz for the position of National Security Advisor. I guess the difference is that while Waltz was a politician Hegseth is a telegenic former Fox News infotainment star.

    Laura Loomer taking credit for this as she pushed Trump to fire much of the NSC folks. "Normal" Republicans must be so proud to have empowered Laura Loomer enough that this claim is not without basis.

    Another problem that occurs to me is that we were repeated assured that there was absolutely no problem with anything that happened. So why fire anyone?

    Most of his cabinet is awful and have no business being in their roles but at least this is one down who deserved to go. Granted, he'll likely be replaced by someone worse given Trump's abysmal track record of hiring and fondness for yes men.

    The bar is so low for the criminal and incompetent Trump Administration that some seem to think he deserves credit for this.

    It is thought that Waltz might be too much of a traditional Republican hawk on FP when compared to Vance and his team of America First, non-interventionists.
