FBI arrests judge in escalation of Trump immigration enforcement effort

The Dems when false claims are levied against trump in trumped-up charges: "NO one is above the law."

The Dems when judges commit criminal acts and get arrested: "It's a Constitutional crisis."

 

It actually does matter because competence matters. You said that: "But over here in the real world, Bondi and Patel almost certainly had their ducks in a row before doing something like this." You are making the assumption Patel and Bondi are operating a highly competent level but their current record shows that is not the case, since they could not even properly handle the deportation of Garcia to anywhere but El Salvador. So they need to show that they are competent and posting a tweet about this case and then deleting it, is not a good sign that they are.

What the record shows so far is that the Trump Admin is more interested in making headlines and sending a message than conducting operations according to the letter of the law. They are happy to lose in court later on as long as the message they want sent is getting out today.

 

There is no question about whether or not an error was made. An error was made. So the question is now whether it was made on purpose or by mistake. So is this Admin ignoring the ruling of a immigration court or just incompetent? Neither answer suggest we should have confidence in the Admin holding to the letter of the law.

How would you describe it? Incompetence or intentional?

BTW, I am of the opinion that if the information we have now about what happened with this judge is accurate, then there is a legitimate case against her. I'm just at the point now where I am waiting for all the information to come out before making a decision about it since this Admin seems to be more concerned about sending a message than dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended a judge accused of helping a man evade immigration authorities, saying Tuesday that it is in the public interest to relieve her of her duties as she faces two federal charges.

The only reason that they relieved her was because the Federal Government has charged her and the court does not think a judge that is being prosecuted in Federal Court should be overhearing cases. If these charges go away, she will be instantly reinstated.

 

Interested to see what the state does re this case of a judge helping an illegal avoid ICE and possible deportation.

The lawyers should be removed from office and have their law license revoked.

She was originally charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice in 2018 by Trump-appointed then-U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling. However, in 2022, the Biden Department of Justice agreed to drop the charges against Joseph after she agreed to refer herself to the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct. That state commission did not file charges for disciplinary action against Joseph until late in 2024, with her hearing date set for June 9.
