You certainly are playing both sides of the fence here. Taxes pay for your salary, and you want to cut taxes, but keep your salary. How does that make sense?

 

I've used an advanced algorithm with artificial intelligence to come up with an answer:

Pros: Trump is in favor of it.

Cons: Someone else (probably the libs) is against it.

 

You got to start somewhere. Musk said he would trim $2T (no idea if that was per year or over X number of years). DOGE has resulted in a savings of way less than that. Checking their website, it shows $160B. Thats probably an overestimate but there are still some savings. Remove the cap on income subject to social security. That will cause less physiological pain than if you raised income taxes by a %. It does raise taxes but it's not the same taxes as would be automatically raised when the current tax breaks end at the end of the year. Medicare payment fraud will also result in savings. Will it close the gap? Yes. Will there still be a deficit? Probably but much smaller and more manageable in the future to be able to realistically get closer to a balanced budget.

 

My federal salary ends in 2 weeks. Then someone will have to decide if the services I can provide is worth the cost (hint, they have).

 

Circumstances may change. "Someone" may be relying on federal funding in some way, and your salary may get cut.

So you voted for a guy who basically is doing the opposite of what you propose, and whose expiring tax cuts also basically do the opposite of what you propose.

So raise taxes on income to avoid raising taxes on income because it feels better? Interesting strategy. I guess some people other than liberals do want higher taxes. In fact, you want taxes increased.

 

The answer is he can’t.

The whole “sell across” state lines was a republican talking point but in reality it is completely unworkable. Now with ACA in place it would pretty much have little or no effect.

Most insurance is employer provided anyway, and a chunk, probably around 1/3 in terms of employees insured is likely a form of self insurance managed by ERISA, not the states.
