On replay, I don’t think Mia had time to make that play anyway. But it feels like she was badly positioned.
This loss is credited to Sydney Berzon's pitching, IMO. She kept our hitters off balance the whole game and, yes. a couple of hard hit balls by us were at 'em balls, but I give her credit for shutting our bats down. Ava pitched well enough to win, but our bats just couldn't do much - 2 hits the whole game. Suck it up and move on. Stats has Brown with the loss, but Oxley finished up the 6th and the game was tied 1-1 going to the 7th. Oxley gets charged with the loss. Need to win Monday night, though. Rothrock has to be on and the bats have to come alive. We may be facing Berzon again.
Mia has made a lot of errors this season and last, but that was just one of those balls that was pretty much unplayable, IMO. If she had charged it, she would have had to make a great play and then shoot it sidearmed to 1st with a fast runner going down the line. She had no play at 2nd. Just a tough play. What cost us the game was our inability to adjust to Berzon's drop and slow curve. Only 2 hits the whole game. I give LSU and Berzon total credit for the win. No player blaming from me.
Yeah was going to say don't think Mia has a play either way. At least Berzon threw over 100 pitches. Gotta throw the first punch. Edwards has really been the only hitter to make successful contact off our pitchers.
Pitch count doesn't matter in softball. With that underarm motion pitchers can throw every day as long as the legs are strong. Rothrock threw back-to-back several times last year. We'll see what Coach Torina does, but Berzon was the only LSU pitcher who has been effective against us.
