Everything Elon touches continues to die. Huge win for democracy and the state of Wisconsin to make sure corruption didn’t win. Too bad Florida decided to still mess things up and elected that absolute chud Randy Fine. Democratic-backed Susan Crawford win Wisconsin Supreme Court seat
So how does winning a supreme court seat (in a state that has gone back and forth between dem and pub) help them take back the House? Or at least give them a more even split.
They will be able to fix the severe gerrymandering that was done several years back when they had a Republican governor
I would add that voter ID was already required by statute in Wisconsin. What the vote yesterday did was to include that requirement in the state's constitution. It didn't actually change policy.
I don't expect anyone to voluntarily concede a partisan advantage, and I'm on record as generally thinking the American system, federalism, and the Constitution itself are at best dated and ill-conceived, and at worse, fundamentally anti-democratic. I wish judges didnt run this country, but that's what we have until we have a real democracy, where people and political equality matter more than geography.
The left spent what, 3X the amount the right did in Wisc? In FL the left spent up to 10x the amount the right did on the two elections. The result is the dems went 1-3 with the four elections. Too funny!
My dude, Elon Musk personally financed this guy’s campaign to try and win this particular election and lost badly. Nobody ever expected Florida to vote otherwise, but the numbers show that they’ve lost some ground since the election.
I’m not sure why, but people have been writing about how this was the most important election of the 21st Century.
Actually in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election there was more spending on behalf of Schimel the conservative than on behalf of Crawford the liberal . With ideological control of the court again at stake, the race shattered the record set just two years ago. Through today, WisPolitics had tracked $107 million in overall spending through independent expenditure filings with the state, data from AdImpact, information from media buyers and sources with knowledge of the efforts. That includes $58.2 million by Schimel and those supporting him and $48.8 million by Crawford and those backing her. Crawford beats Schimel in nation’s most expensive court race
Yep. Not to mention Elon’s personal involvement in it and the active trying of buying votes illegally with millions of dollars. Honestly, though, I have to thank Elon because she probably loses without his involvement. Guy is a cancer on anything he touches.
While I hate what Elon is doing and wish he would crawl under a rock...I am not sure how "huge" this is. Most of us only care about Wisconsin if its football season or if we are topping a taco or burger.
Besides being symbolically significant by demonstrating that an election cannot be bought the Wisconsin Supreme Court election was also substantively significant. If the Republicans/conservatives had regained control of the court (technically it was a nonpartisan election although it was very partisan in fact) it would have enshrined the partisan gerrymandering in the state making it easier for Republicans to maintain their majority in the House and it would have also made it easier to resurrect Wisconsin's 150-year old zombie anti-abortion law that outlawed all abortions with no exceptions not even for the life of the mother.
Well, Elon did declare that the “entire destiny of humanity” rested on this election. So I’m sure it was “huge” Musk says 'Destiny of humanity' rests on Wisconsin Supreme Court race
Wisconsin is one of the only 10 states that matter in the election of a President. So 40 other states are heavily governed by the preferences of people in Wisconsin.
That is wrong. Here is the CNBC Article saying otherwise. Susan Crawford wins Wisconsin Supreme Court race, defying Elon Musk Despite the more than $15 million that Musk and groups affiliated with him dropped into the race, Democrats overall held a narrow ad spending advantage, according to AdImpact.
