I’m far from a libbie and I have my MM card. Use only gummies and occasionally sublingual drops at a max of 10mg to sleep when my neck nerve pain from numerous surgeries has both my arms and hands hurting. It often includes a pretty bad headache. I thought about not renewing my card until another medical issue came up last November. I have a neuroendocrine tumor in my pancreas that has to be removed once it gets to 2.0cm. That will leave me with 40% to 50% of my pancreas. Some people do fine with half a pancreas’s whereas others have to take insulin to regulate blood sugar and sometimes digestive enzymes for digestion. I have no idea where I’ll be after the surgery and figured I might need assistance with sleep. THC helps me with it now and most likely will should I need it after surgery. I have an appointment with my cancer surgeon today to discuss my last 2 scans from the 21st. One of two things will happen, wait and monitor until it is 2.0cm or set a date for surgery if my last scans show it at that size. THC is a wonderful drug for those that need it. It replaced sleeping pills, oxys, and muscle relaxants for me. Gatorhead I own many firearms and don’t enjoy blowing off peoples heads.
Hey man, I was just making an observation from afar…sounds like you aren’t using thc as a recreational thing. To each his own anyhow and I hope you’re doing ok monitoring that tumor. Sorry if I touched on a sensitive subject. I wish you nothing but good health Homer.
Sorry this turned into a snark Homer. Your health is of primary concern and I wish you the best possible diagnosis.
I'm surprised 15 mg has that dramatic of an effect on you, but edibles hit different I think due to the way they're metabolized. As with other things, people are going to have different reactions and tolerances depending on size, usage, psychology, etc. There's already a proposed bill in Florida which would regulate potency in the event the recreational amendment passes. I don't have a problem with that concept; we regulate alcohol in various ways, for example.
Strawman lie... One ( a defensive weapon) is Constitutional to have, the other one is against federal laws. So your "high road" is not as high as you might be...
Edibles hit me really hard. My wife and I can take the same dose at the same time and she stays clear headed. She'll take a vape hit to get her the rest of the way there. Vapes barely effect me. Looking at the dispensary menus in Florida, I thought the potency was already regulated. Didn't see any flower with more than 18 or 19% THC. The flower I buy up here is usually 28% or higher and it's from the same dispensary chain as the one in my home town in Florida. Regulating the potency of flower doesn't make much sense to me. I'd put a limit on how much wax or oil you buy in a month. Here in Illinois, there are limits on how much you purchase in a month and vapes and other concentrates are taxed at a higher level.
I consume cannabis but not alcohol and it's not a fix anymore than a couple of beers or cocktails. It's just a nice way to unwind after a long day. It's legal. The health risks are negligible compared to alcohol. I don't even consider it a vice.
Almost 50,000 people die every year from gunshot wounds. Nobody dies directly from cannabis consumption.
Drug dealers are saints... none of them smoke weed. None of them kill... Yeah, we've heard this before. But gang-bangers like killing other gang-bangers by the thousands. Drug dealers account for a great deal of those gun murders. But yes, suicides and death by accidental gunshot wounds are way too high... unfortunate too. However, it sure would be nice if violent criminals, that are NOT allowed to own or posses guns, were kept from getting them... using them. But taking defensive weapons from law abiding citizens would only make our government, and drug dealing gang-bangers, more dangerous.
Update from just now. My generic text sent to friends. Just got off a zoom video with my cancer surgeon. My last 2 scans on Feb 21st showed no tumor increase in size. It's currently at 1.81cm. There will be no surgery until it reaches 2.0cm which may be a while or possibly never. I'll have another scan in 6 months. This is super good news. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and good thoughts. Doug
With the career path I had, I have stayed away from THC products. Last year during my crazy cool mt bike trip out west, I had some crazy stuff happen. Wasn't sleeping worth a damn after that so I tried some 5mg edibles (one a night). Mixed results so far, mostly better sleep but once some really weird dreams.
What drug dealers? Did you just wake up from the eighties? I buy from bud tenders at legal dispensaries, people trained to help cannabis consumers find the right product for their needs. They're licensed by the state, have undergone extensive background checks and have to follow stringent state regulations. I don't believe any of them have committed murder. Legal cannabis sales contributed 1.6 billion dollars to the Illinois economy last year, has created jobs for 30,000 residents and provided $450 million in annual tax revenue. 600,000 cannabis related criminal records have been expunged. That's a pretty positive upside.
I think there’s a huge difference between heavy recreational use and what we do under medical care. I’ve been using a small, prescribed dose for chronic pain through Releaf here in the UK, and it’s been a completely different experience from just smoking. What helped me feel more confident was hearing from others going through proper cannabis clinics. It’s not about chasing a high, just about feeling a bit more like yourself again
