@cecil— Does your cabbage soup have chipped up off the bone (shank portion) ham in it?…..And what is your address???
Tonight we will be at Kayla & John-Luke’s to celebrate his birthday. He has requested Ms. Jan’s Swiss Steak with mushrooms, onions, green bell peppers, and gravy. Sides will be homemade mashed potatoes, fresh zipper peas, freshly steamed green cabbage, and cornbread. Adult beverages will be available as desired…. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Because tomorrow will be a HUGE cooking day and we have left over Carolina slaw from yesterday tonight will be Hebrew National All Beef slaw dogs.
Let me be the first to say— Tonight will be LEFTOVERS! Col’beers and wine are on hand. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Made a tomatillo based salsa for tacos. Having a 5:30 EST Gator basketball game made for a simple dinner.
Ms. Jan’s making us a pot of sausage and corn chowder soup for this evening. Damp/wet and cooler last night and today—but our family has been together for the Thanksgiving holiday week. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Tonight is the final “leg” of our Thanksgiving leftovers— We have an expected low of 26* tonight so it’s a tumbler of good bourbon for me and Ms. Jan’s going with her Moscow Mule. Life is good in Gator Nation!
I hope that I didn't overcook the turkey. it was 11 pounds and I had my KJ set at 260 F so I was thinking about 6 hours. I checked after four hours and it was hotter than I wanted.
I think that my wife screwed up inviting her vegetarian sister to dinner. The cauliflower gratin has prosciutto in it. She probably forgot that. The only vegetarian thing we will have is the garlicy green beans. Even the soggy leftover chopped salad we still has has ham in it.
The cauliflower gratin was incredible. It was from the Silver Palate cookbook and I made a small tweak. It called for 1.5 cups of grated Swiss cheese and I subbed in 1 cup of grated baby Swiss and 0.5 cups of grated gruyere. Tonight going to a friend's house for Thai take-out and nice Russian River wine.
Kicking off the first of three days in a row with rainy weather. So tonight we’re having a crunchy taco with black beans casserole. It’ll be topped with Sargento shredded Tex-Mex cheese with extra multigrain tortilla chips and garlic & black bean chips as well. A tumbler of Knob Creek Small Batch 100 proof for me and Ms. Jan’s going with her chilled wine. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Yesterday my wife spent hours making a delish turkey tetrazzini. I spent a lot of time finding a decent sherry as my wife would not abide "cooking" sherry and ended up getting Dry Sack at the crummy liquor store near my neighborhood Publix. Tonight is is just dirty rice.
Tonight we’ll be having white chicken chili-we like to add black beans to our pot. It really brings out the best flavors in making the soup. We’ll enjoy the same tortilla chips that we had with the taco casserole. Life is good in Gator Nation!
We are picking up supper from Ably’s Chinese restaurant this evening. We’re supposed to have a low of 30* here in Jasper tonight. Life is good in Gator Nation!
