California Senate hopeful Rep. Adam Schiff claimed primary residences in Maryland and California | CNN Politics "For more than a decade, California Senate hopeful Rep. Adam Schiff has claimed his primary residence is a 3,420 square foot home he owns in Maryland, according to a review of mortgage records. "At the same time, Schiff has for years taken a homeowner’s tax exemption on a much smaller 650 square foot condo he owns in Burbank, California, also claiming that home as his primary residence for a reduction in his tax bill of $7,000. He did not take an exemption on his home in Maryland." That's a competitive and close race, and this could do him in.
He’s running to replace Laphonza Butler, so seems like we just need to go ahead and recognize that as Maryland’s third US Senate seat.
He owns a home in his district and has been in DC for decades and owns a home just outside in Maryland. I was unable to gather the legal issue from the article.
It's the appearance that concerns me: he's running to be California's Senator, but he has primarily resided in Maryland. I have tremendous respect for him and understand why he's had a home in Maryland, close to where he works. However, I can see his opponents making it an issue, and it could make a difference in a close race. He's a bright and articulate man, plus he rankles the hell out of the MAGA cult.
I don't understand the article, if he claims homeowner's exemption in California, and not in Maryland, then how exactly is he claiming his primary residence is in Maryland?
Not a Schiff fan but I don't really see a problem here. Especially since he is from California, the commute makes it difficult to do every weekend, he would need to spend more time near DC.
Visited his Burbank office! Big fan. Joseph Gordon-Levitt sent a solicitation email yesterday, which actually prompted me to donate
