I have no issue with political ads, as I’m not a “shut up and play” type I’m all for people speaking their mind on issues. As long as they have a defensible position go for it. Last i checked this is America, not commie China. People make political or social statements all the time both on and off the field, and advertisers do that as well. Most of the time it’s vapid posing or virtue signaling anyway. The fact that they exist doesn’t bother me. Do most ads blatantly lie or mislead? Eh. Not really. The ones that do deserve to be called out. I don’t think the OP was even particularly doing that, he probably just found it kind of creepy (because it is). During campaign season one would have to be blind or totally unplugged to not see all the ads from political candidates, and occasionally from special interests trying to manipulate a particular issue. What jumps out about this ad is it’s not really selling anything or a candidate (it’s just telling me to be against something), but as is typical of the CRT issue, it completely fails to articulate anything about the issue. It just shows some bizarre TikTok clip that has nothing to do with CRT. The only explanation is that the clip of that teacher previously went viral in right wing circles. If you want to defend propaganda be my guest, but knowing the source and the falsity that’s all this is.
That's really the point of what they're trying to do. "CRT is bad and racist, trust me." That's the entire movement, because it is about branding anything having to do with race that they disagree with "CRT." It's just like calling any social/economic policy they dislike "socialism." Demagoguery aimed at appealing to the ignorant.

I'd say it's a bit nebulous and lacks falsifiability (to the extent that it contains universally agreed upon ideals). Two of the biggest obstacles, as it pertains to racism in this country, are the folks that see black/white where they don't exist and the folks who don't see black/white where they do exist. It's a tough nut to crack, but often times there's valid ideas shared that cannot (er...will not) be accepted because it comes from "the other side." If you want a race-based comparison, I would say the promotion/rejection of "Black Lives Matter" is along the same lines. At the end of the day, these have become politically-charged terms, and the validity of their discussion of what is meant gets over-shadowed by the shock and awe of whether or not somebody is expressed to be "for" or "against" these labels. Ditch the catchy labels, discuss the nuts and bolts that make them up. We see the same thing with "pro-life" and "pro-choice" - just ridiculous labels used to glorify the side one is on. To your point, I don't think the ad is productive in any way shape or form; if anything it's divisive (to the folks who buy in to such things). But most ads cater to people who aren't thinking too intently of a given topic (or at least not with an open and reasoning mind). I like to take a position that doesn't qualify for affirmation or condemnation. Instead, try to find out what someone means behind their message. I believe we will find that this varies widely from individual to individual and people with the same skin color won't always agree on the details. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I’m genuinely interested in whether or not you universally hold to the tenet of interest convergence. Specifically, would you agree that white people who support and openly advocate for CRT are still operating as covert racists who are after the white benefits of advocating for CRT?
The intersection of politics and sports is nothing new, and I don't have a problem with it generally. As far as I can tell, the organization that created this ad is promoting vouchers, private schools, and/or school choice. Regardless of how one feels about that issue, the notion that we shouldn't talk about racism because kids don't see skin color feels like sticking one's head in the sand more than it does giving kids "the truth."
There might be a myriad of reasons why someone would advocate for CRT, but you are appealing to a world that exists outside of the CRT matrix you have chosen to inhabit. If Brown vs. The Board of Education is an example of interest convergence, then be consistent through and through and chalk up white people advocating for CRT to the same root cause.
CRT is a framework used to examine race, but you actually have to be consistent in the application of the framework. There is a very straightforward way the tool of interest convergence can be applied to analyze white people who advocate for CRT. You just don't want to go there and apply these analysis tools on whites advocating for CRT because well...these tools are insidious as you described them. We don't like to be insidious towards ourselves. We only like to be insidious towards others. The simple solution here is to take the red pill and realize this is an insidious and awfully cynical system in its analysis. It should be rejected because it is terrible immoral system of analysis. If you don't like it when the tools are used on you, then you shouldn't use them to analyze others.

Goliath by Gladwell, titled, "If I'd gone to the Uni of Maryland, I'd still be in science". first hand witness response: I've seen many crushing examples. & it is not all about race: 1. had a student who was stupid as shit. I don't think she could read. She could barely carry on a convo. She was in an elite university (think Emory, Carnegie Mellon). I thought wth? then I saw her last name on a center....her pop had given the private uni 25m. She was white. She flunked out. 2. so many minorities have come through my courses over the years that had no bidness being there. They were simply ill prepared. They were humiliated. &, it perpetuated neg stereotypes. They either flunk out or they are advised to easier & easier majors so that the uni can count them. So, many other avenues woulda greatly increased their chances to obtain their dreams. Oh, you say flippantly "all of us"? I had a guy TODAY try to add a $ amt & sq ft together. Many colleges are in a race to lower standards to increase numbers with NO REGARD for educating the individual. A DEI officer told us that we needed to eliminate the "obstacle of math" as a requirement. We did. EVERYONE loses. But why? So the school can tout certain numbers. Typically so white people can pat themselves on the back while they screwed people over b/c they just treated them as numbers that they needed to make so that THEY could get promotions, raises etc. I saw that Irish story this morning.
