Never saw this coming. Is it the start of a trend ? Dallas Mayor Flips to GOP With Riveting Reason: 'America's Cities Need Republicans and I'm Becoming One'
Don't know anything about him other than what I read today. The Dallas mayoral seat is non-partisan, and he's term-limited out after this term. Interestingly, he just got re-elected and waited until after he won to publicly change his personal party affiliation. He's gotten as high as he's going to at the municipal level. Wouldn't surprise me if he is planning to run for Federal or statewide office.
Psst: Most big city "Democrats" are basically Republicans (if not actual Republicans who changed parties to get elected), particularly when it comes to sheriffs. Eric Adams is a cop who's making noise about immigration lol!
Meh. Dallas Mayor is a powerless position. Their city manager does the work and answers to the council. Mayor presides over the council meetings. Good for him though. Maybe he’ll bring them some sense.
IMO an elected official switching parties mid-term seems a bit dishonest. Their party affiliation was key in how they got there. However, as long as this mayor doesn’t go maga-crazy-conspiracy he could do ok.
