I am all for a sensible approach of combining current tech, ESPECIALLY NUCLEAR, with existing hydrocarbon technology, solar and wind. But there is NOTHING sensible about power generating infrastructure in the USA. It's every man for himself, screw new ideas and protect what's in place now. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are completely bought off. It's useless anyway, if the entire US energy grid went clean that still leaves the rest of the world. Just hope that we adapt because nature does not care about financial portfolios. I have hope that fusion may come through. Even if it did, the current owners of infrastructure would fight it tooth and nail.

Well if you had taken 2 more seconds, you would find that report links to a research paper that is saying based on their best estimate it will occur around 2050. But that would actually mean you wanted to learn something.
