France riots: Burning car used to attack mayor’s home as some 719 arrested on fifth night of violence The home of a Paris suburb mayor was ram-raided and set alight while his wife and children were asleep as violent protests spread into a fifth night across the country. France has been rocked by riots after 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk was shot dead by police on Tuesday. Vincent Jeanbrun, mayor of the southern suburb of L’Hay-les-Roses, said his wife and one of their two children, aged five and seven, were injured as they fled their home in the early hours of Sunday morning. In a statement on Twitter, he said: “A milestone was reached in horror and ignominy. My home was attacked and my family was the victim of an assassination attempt.
I wonder if right-wing agitators infiltrate protests to cause destruction over in Europe like they do here in America.
Pretty tame compared to what we see from our police on a weekly basis here in the US. We are just conditioned to it.
Actually it seems to me there is more going on here that just protest. I mean do the French people get this worked up over a case of police brutality or discrimination more than people do in the USA? There must be some malcontents (still mad about the retirement age being raised?) taking advantage of this to raise hell. There's looting going on, which as in the US is not the work of legitimate protestors. I don't know, I've never been to France and can't comment on that society. I do like their toast and reputedly the way they kiss. Their language, though, seems really screwed up. Like so many silent letter. Just laziness?
Don’t know but wish we’d use them here for people like the Parkland shooter. Do it in public and sell tickets and food.
I've often wondered if there is any awareness by the victim the first few second after his head is severed.
I’ve read that there is. If so it can’t be for long. That some were laid in their backs so they could see it coming and right after the heads were picked up so the person could briefly see what the hell just occurred. It all may be BS but who really knows?
That has been debated based on the eyes and mouth continuing to move. But the loss of blood pressure would be nearly instantaneous, resulting in loss of consciousness. I would have to say it’s over for the executed faster than they could realistically perceive it.
Just curious if anyone has watched the above video and your thoughts on the situation. It seems like this is woke run amuck in France. Some background: before the video begins, French police attempt to pull over the car, because it was a rental with 'Polish plates' and the driver looked under age. So, police tried to pull them over for checks, the car ran a red light and a chase proceeded. The car stops because of heavy traffic. Then we see what happened in the video.
Edit: I Googled it, expecting to find Guillotine as the inventor. But Guillotin didn't invent it, just advocated its use a more humane way to execute people than "the breaking wheel," which apparently was the same as the rack, only it didn't stop with torture. I remember an actor, I think it was Stallone, who said in a previous life (I guess he used hynotic past life regression) he was guillotined, and he knew when his head hit the basket.
