Weak opponent at home, pretty much a must win Easy win on court 2 for doubles, but close losses on 1 and 3 give UK the point After playing her best match ever as #1 2 day ago, Dahlstrom takes a seat on the bench. Gailis up to 3, De Oliviera all the way to 4, Spee at 5 and Shelton 6 If Dahlstrom isn't hurt (she was fine after the match 2 days ago) and this is coach experimenting then he deserves every bit of venom if this goes south. Can't lose this match at home.
Briggs loses 1st 3-6 Dudney wins 6-2 Gailis loses 3-6 De Oliviera wins 6-3 Spee wins 6-4 Shelton getting wiped out 2-6 0-2 Briggs or Gailis has to win a 3 setter
Stronger second sets at the top Briggs catches fire...throws up a clean 6-0 to force a third Dudney up 4-1, looks good for a point Gailis 2-1 De Oliviera down 1-2....don't want a third set here Spee 1-2....see above Shelton loses 2-6 0-6.....no comment needed UK up 2-0
IMO this is going to come down to UF needing either Spee or De Oliviera to win....Gailis and Briggs seem to have found their footing. Unfortunately the other two seem to be losing theirs. Looks like 3 setters for all
Well, we are headed to inexcusable depths here if they don't pick it up Briggs disintegrating in her 3rd, down 1-4 Dudney gest UF a solid point Gailis easy second set 6-1, but down 0-1 quickly in 3rd De Oliviera and Spee both demolished in second sets 1-6, both up 1-0 in 3rd Bizzaro match
Briggs gets waxed 1-6, baffling. Her opponent isn't highly ranked like some Carly faces. Surprising loss UK up 3-1 Gailis down 2-3...neither player can hold serve De Oliviera up 3-1 Spee up 3-1 No rhyme or reason to this match, all over the place
Gailis with 2 break points to even it at 4, she can't convert and down 3-5 De Oliviera closes strong 6-1 to make it 3-2 Spee at 5-3
Gailis broken at love on her serve for the match.....UK 4-2 If I hear Dahlstrom wasn't sick or injured I'm storming the tennis offices lol The Shelton implosion is inexplicable. No idea how she can struggle this badly as a senior.....she played successfully at #3 as a true freshman at USC
Disappointment everywhere it seems. I recall when women's tennis was dominating the country. At least the men have a recent NC, women nothing in a long time.
Why would you ever post easy opponent for any Gator athletics competition. ? We never have easy opponents.
When Roland and Dave Balogh fell out it seems we lost the recipe. Program hasn't been the same since. I do like the addition of Bayon as an asst, afraid Embree was just too young and probably not at a point in her career to challenge her old head coach. But this just feels like the Burleigh/Soccer story, dominant program goes stagnant and its tough to make the necessary changes
