    36 months, max. Book it!

Has the markings of a disaster. Not rooting for that though. Hope he takes UF up above UNC to #4/5.

I won’t. You’ve heard it all before and it’s all 100% true. Bunch of incompetent misers pulling the strings.

Just to be clear, *KBcowboyz* can take potshots at the president of University of Florida on a dedicated UF website...but you protect their feathery delicate sensibilities from well grounded collateral attack to their complete lack of anything resembling any qualifications to render any meaningful judgment...

    So much for Go Gators.

What is the old saying? A rising tide lifts all boats? Anybody that works at Uf should be rooting for this guy haaaard. Hoping and praying he can play politics and get control of things between Uf and Tallahassee. It’s a mess right now and all of us are looking for a little leadership.

I know this is a rehash of the other thread, but really, I don't think anyone knows what to expect. While I'm not a fan of his politics he has always appeared to have presented himself with professionalism and integrity and I hope that continues.

As to his qualifications, yes it's true, his candidacy appeared to have come out of the blue but his politics do not matter to me as long as he doesn't make education political, protects the university from the Governor, and continues to maintain our academics and give our athletic department a wake up call as a self-described "super fan."

Inexperienced university leader that is a polarizing politician in a charged environment? Seems like it has the makings of a disaster.

Well, I've seen my share of Uni prezs & he seems like a fantastic choice. In general, non-academics make FAR better presidents. A lot of folks don't understand that he is not the academic leader. I guess I am ignorant as to what make him polarizing.

You maybe right, but I do think what helps him is that he was a youngish Senator in a sea of red lemmings who was one of the very few who stood up against Trump (when Trump was at his peak popularity and powers) so I don't think he is your typical Republican who will succumb to pressure in that regard. It cost him dearly from a political career standpoint, at least currently, but I am optimistic that he has the fortitude to push back.

I'm going to give him a shot. My hope is that he'll rise above the petty politics we're seeing in other places in this state. But I'll also be keeping a close eye on him. If he starts up with any of the culture war bullshit that DeSantis is pushing, he'll quickly lose any BOTD he had with me.

A lot of folks are responding to him as if he is a Trump supporter, when he is the guy forced out of the Senate for speaking out against Trump. It has been really weird having discussions with people in real life where you can stick with the conversation until they start explaining why they believe what they believe about him. It really is just an un-nuanced reaction to the R after his name.

I think 'forced out' is not what happened to him. He could have held that job for life if he wanted it, and his voting record was one of a standard Republican and probably with Trump the vast majority of the time. But yes, he was sometimes critical of Trump's demeanor.
