We play on the same field and our win loss record is against these Fake superior atheletes. We are in the SeC no less. As long as You are ok with moral victories and and upside down win loss records, then proceed. I have a feeling you will get frustrated pretty quickly. The landscape has changed, the rules have changed. We need our Bill Heaveners to step up and finanace our pro football payroll and name more building after them. Or get cozy with 4-8

    Yeah damage is done.
    Regardless how this shook/shakes out.
Even with todays youth. What are the chances all this happens on top of the Stokes situation, only to be topped off by the Kitna incident?

Except there isn't a fixation on a number. Title IX only talks about proportions. The problem is the NCAA and the way schools have to work with it. Read these 2 articles to understand it better:

So I was lamenting NIL, the Transfer Portal and Conference Realignment when these things came out. Specifically the loss of amateur football.

Little did I know that the worst of my fears would be realized by UF becoming the poster child for how NOT to deal with it.

I'm not going to post on this subject again other to say it's incredibly discouraging that these new rules exist and UF seems to have made the biggest and most awkward decisions related to "doing business" in this new reality.

Like CBN doesn't have enough to be concerned with. I don't know Napier but everything I have been able to absorb suggests he is a high character man and UF is lucky to have him.

It's just mind boggling that UF is in this situation.

David Watters latest wrap about this on Gators Breakdown wraps it up for me.

Terrible situation for UF at a very bad time for Napier.

At this point I'm less interested in the facts associated with the fiasco and just hope UF can move on from it. This has been an awful media story creating all kinds of bad press and has no positives other than pointing out that whatever "system" UF has of compensating high profile players, clearly, has some problems.

UFs situation just reinforces all the bad possibilities that were a concern when this was all announced, worse than that, it is our Gators that are now example number 1 of how crappy this system is especially for those that don't know how to "play".

And then there's the other side. UF is just a victim of a horrible system that's just going to get more horrible and that this is just the first of many similar horror stories. I've seen it both ways and even both in the same take. Yes, UF played "the system" wrong and that "the system" is inherently broken and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

To be fair, David/GB are big-time recruiting guy/jock sniffers, so this take doesn't surprise me.

You may want to post this on reddit. The ever expansive list of rules is going to add another new one. Can't talk about the thing that has the same initials as Gator Country but soon there will be a rule of no mentioning the NIL lol.

UF cannot beat Georgia and win the East without elite recruiting. DW recognizes this. When Kirby Smart was asked why his team beat Oregon so soundly, he did not discuss scheme or preparation. As has been pointed out often in this forum of late, the NFL is the only sport in the world that does not have its own developmental system, because fans across the nation have been happy to donate money to shoulder the cost of player development. The continuation of college football as a developmental step to eventual NFL placement now requires donating money to pay players. Thus, the elite recruiting necessary to win requires possession of the ability to pay those athletes.

UF, and all colleges, may want to rethink the role of college football in developing high level professionals, but, if college football is to remain the developmental grounds for the NFL, there will now be a significant pay roll involved.

I hate it when people get paid for their skills! They should all get the same thing regardless of their value or contribution! Right comrade?

Histrionics is for the folks who either believe in the histrionics of others or believes there is only one dialog of the truth. The only real truth I believe in all this is that the inmates are now running the asylum. It may be that way for the foreseeable future (gonna use an old, odd analogy: Escape from New York). It looks bad now but once things bottom out, it gets much better (but not perfect). All I hear is that the only game is to spend stupid money on potential (and likely narcissistic) football players. That to me is not wise at all.

Now if this were Year 5 or 6 and the trend is that the wannabe programs of the past are now winning NCs, THEN we can say the game is changed it is going to take a big war chest and a new way of looking at players than from the past. It is just too early to tell.

In all likelihood, the current NIL price tags are going to define the height of the market, and there will be a decline. However, if you want to win now, you need to be spending the money. If winning now is not a priority, then neither is spending money on players. I think in five to six years four maybe five teams will have dominated the market, and the cost of competing with them for a new arrival will be even more difficult.

The University of Florida will continue to be a great University and a pillar of public education in Florida and the nation. If Florida does not get into the spending race, five to six years from now, I believe, it will be impossible to convince the larger community it needs to start.

Histrionics or not, I want to make sure my kids go t oa game this year, just so they saw something of it.

But if you are spending money and not receiving your rewards - getting to the playoffs and eventually getting to the NC game - then you are being foolish. Just because this is "conventional wisdom" does not make it a fact. As I said, it is WAY too early to tell.

Out of all the schools that this could happen to...of course it is going to happen here.
No matter the spin, this is an awful look on our program, period. Disorganized, can't adapt to the times. This theme has been the mainstay of ours for too long. Practically every other school has managed to adapt.
