You must be old. :p At this point in time, we should probably just be thankful there's any contact sports left.

The suddenness of it seems reminiscent of Keyontae's situation. The will to live is strong and as others have noted, where there is life there is hope.

In 1971 on a Thanksgiving game between the Bears and Lions Dick Butkus laid a massive hit on Lions WR Chuck Hughes and he died of a heart attack on the field in Tigers Stadium.

This is all that needs to be said on the argument of when and if the game should have gone on. It's a game after all, not a necessary event for human life to go on

Yup. I remember basketball stars Hank Gathers and Reggie Lewis both collapsing onto the court with heart problems and dying in the late 80s/early 90s. Unfortunate tragedies have been happening in sports forever.

Football is a violent sport played by large men. They get hurt but they are usually very healthy. So hits that would leave many of us in bed for months the players get up from. I hope this happens in this case.

Presumptive of you to know the motives of other posters and jumping to the conclusion that the motivation was to get kudos or cred from others. You have no clue about what motivates other posters to say what they do. It is also a message board, you know, where people express opinions. We don't need your approval, so get over yourself. Don't like what you read here? Maybe do something else.....

Some pretty harsh takes here. I can see what Bushmaster meant initially however it has gotten pretty ugly here.

I actually somewhat agree with waiting to see the severity of the medical issue before canceling the game. Seeing the players all out crying signaled this was not a usual medical game stoppage and canceling the game was inevitable but there is a process and i dont think waiting a few minutes to sort it was that out of line considering how anomalous and surprising the situation was.

I think the board piled on and Bush got aggressively defensive. Just my opinion. I see both sides.

Maybe both sides should just let it go and get back to Hamlin and the overall situation.
