A C-, C or C+ does not exactly warm the heart. If the season ends at 6-7, I would grade below that.

I agree however I think to some degree we have a person who appears to be very loyal and maybe to a fault. We shall see.

C sounds good, but like a 70/100. Pass technically but concerning.

I think people are too high on Lincoln Riley here. Don't forget he coaches in the pac12 where Oregon and Utah are among the powerhouses. You might recall Oregon from it's regular beatings received by every ranked OOC team it plays and Utah for losing to us.

Billy is a good organizer and can be a good head coach at Florida if he can give up control on the offense and change the DC. Special teams should be someone who understands SEC football and had success with Special teams. All these areas need better leadership. Sad but true. Scott Strickland has to define these needed changes for Billy to prosper. This has to be one of the weakest staffs we have had in fifty years, waiting on new recruits won’t help the x’s and the o’s. Better to cut bait and live to fish another day!

Since we hired them 10 at a time, we got a discount on their salaries. LOL

    Administration - A-

    Game day - D-

You simply have to beat the teams you should beat and go 50/50 against the rest.

What we have seen isn't good coaching.

Except for LSU, none of those first year head coaches have played 5 ranked teams (KY @ the time) and an SEC schedule. After FSU this week, 6 of our 12 opponents will have been ranked with 5 of them still being in the top 25 which shows you how ridiculous a schedule this was. LSU had a much fuller cupboard than ours especially on defense and filled in pieces w/the portal. We won 1 game this year that we probably should’ve lost against Utah and lost two games we should’ve won with Kentucky and Vanderbilt. We are net -1 game where I thought we would be this time of year but I was expecting a win @ FSU. We shall see.

I would give Napes a C+ for this year for program direction & recruiting and a B if we somehow beat FSU and win our bowl game.

C- seems about right. Beat FSU and C would be fair. Not great but with a wait and see and hope for improvement. Most here recognize the game day weaknesses/blunders and the lack of a solid and disciplined squad in all phases of the game. One can hope for better but I sense we've been here before in the last 12 years or so.

He is playing cards with Mullens terrible recruited players. It is really hard to tell right now. In two years the picture is going to slot clearer.

Better comparison would be Mullen last year vs Napier this year. Who would you rather have?

No brainer imo Napier is turning a beat up ship around. Give it time....

I think a lot of the whining is overblown. The one area where coaching seems to have been actually bad is special teams. Would like to see a change there. Regardless everyone knew this year was going to be rough. Get a top recruiting class in, fix ST, and we should be in good shape to continue the build.

We're rated 12th in talent composite as someone else generously pointed out, and we were 7th in both 2020 and 2021

2022 College Football Team Talent Composite

It's time to stop using the talent excuse. Above Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee. Vanderbilt isn't high enough to be on the list.

I'd rate having a defense statistically outside the top 100 as actually bad

Good thing we're #98 in total defense. That aside, it comes down to what you see as the failure. I happen to believe it's more personnel than coaching. I do think dumping the LB coach in favor of a real ST coach could be a good option.

Look elsewhere on here for a more thorough response. The key word is composite. Expand the link for Florida and then discuss the talent ratings of OL, DL, WR, and LB. Also, look at the rankings of the actual players on the field for the 22 starters along with their designated class. We are young and unbalanced wrt the composite. We are much closer to a functional 3 star team currently.

Im not making excuses we should still have beaten Vandy others this year. We are not as functionally talented wrt star rankings as many in here parrot.

I have not rooted this hard for a football coach at UF since SOS.
BN appears to have great character and demands the same of others around him. A+

He appears to be a fine CEO, able to long-term plan and gain the trust of those around him. A+ so far, but time will tell if he sees the flaws in himself and those around him.

    Use of player personnel? Incomplete.

I am shocked by his game day coaching. Analytics. He is a disciple so I expected he would make decisions I didn't understand. Good with that.
But, his game day strategies are simply awful. He is not designing gameplans to outwit his opponent. He uses misdirection minimally and does not set up his plays at all. D-

    Special teams- Consistently terrible, F

In all, I like the guy... a lot. But C-

I agree that we're on the same level as a 3 star team. If we had seen good game management, consistent play calling, aggressive play rather than just running out the clock before halftime, to name a few issues, then being a talented 3 star squad with occasional flashes of 4 and 5 star talent would have been enough to beat Vanderbilt, UK, and not make USF look like a competitive team.

Instead we've seen poor game management, questionable play calling, weirdly conservative play but then inexplicably being aggressive going for 2 or on 4th down because 'analytics', and a complete lack of defensive fundamentals.

Tbh the offense is what I expected, average with flashes of talent. The rest has been abysmal. I expected more than a couple losses but didn't expect to look bad while losing. Can't stop Vanderbilt on third down 9 games into the year?
