I agree with you as it relates to development, but then transfer players that come in have development, and the ones that transfer out are individuals who are generally not pivotal players on offense or defense or worse buried deep in the depth chart. So getting extra scholarships to bring in impact players is more valuable than placating players that are underperforming by giving them playing time in critical games.

You are correct in a point. However, you cannot assume that any or all that transferred out were not a good fit for the Gators. Some wanted to leave a sinking ship.

    Inside your head.
the next three games plus the bowl game will go a long way towards setting the atmosphere for recruiting the next class. If we win out and go 9-4 we look like a program on the upswing. These next four are very important.

Me either exactly but maybe he never fully recovered. He was supposed to be a pretty good player.

I hope we don't lose too many players. However, I have been really disappointed on how we have misused our TEs this year. I hope BN starts to utilize these guys, but I can understand if they transfer out.

  7. Some kids don't fit in with any new staff, it is what it is. I think it's important to recognize that Napier has made a lot of changes (housing, food, parking, staff army, etc) that have benefitted the players themselves. Most of them recognize this and appreciate it but some are stuck in ways with the old staff.

The scary thing is that like every school we're gonna have to re-recruit a lot of young guys who other schools want. Lets be frank Oklahoma would love to have Chris McLellan (from Oklahoma great young player to build around for the next 2 years) and we want kids from Florida who went elsewhere. There are backchannels for all involved to circumvent any rules about tamperining and whatnot The portal itself is a crazy place and on average not for the better. Guys like Gibbs and To'to go to Bama making them better. We'll see what happens but funneling more talent to the 4ish elite programs wasn't the point of the portal.

Yes, we've lost players to the portal but no one that significant. Jacob Copeland wasn't that great, and neither was Ty'ron Hopper or Mohamoud Diabate. Significant losses, yes, but others have already pointed out the awesome gains this year!

As long as we don’t miss on D linemen in the portal like we did last year. Need two plug and play D tackles. McClellan is a star waiting to happen. But after him all we have is Watson if Dexter leaves.

Couldn’t agree more. One game at a time. Sure would like to be 7-4 heading into FSU. That will be a very tough game.

I don't know about 9 but 8 just may be in the mix and I think we are back on track with recruits seeing a future at UF.

You diminish the lost players to the Portal due to their lack of contribution or play. I can see that point. However, the lose of an insignificant player does not diminish the impact of losing that player. Your point actually shed light on another problem. That problem being the recruiting or accepting insignificant talent.

Bottom line, we would not have problems with losing players to the portal if the prior coaching staff had done a better job in all phases of their professions.

You are correct to a point. However, any new person coming into a program will need some time to get adjusted, learn a new system, build a bond with the coaches and the team. Also, not every player coming into the Gators via the portal is free of baggage. These players may have good reasons or bad reasons to leave their prior team. Far to often that baggage is well hidden.

I liked Hopper, and probably shouldn't have said no significant loss. If we had retained him and Diabate, we would have not had so many problems with covering tightends.

Strongly disagree on Diabate. Hopper OTOH would be starting for us. Dude is a straight baller.
