It wasn't out of bounds and it wasn't a hit on a defenseless player. You are still allowed to tackle a runner below waist.

In a perfect world, the refs would never favor one team over another team and there there would not be any bad calls. It is okay to get ticked off when your team is down and the refs seem to want it to be that way. It is okay to let off some steam on your team and the refs. But there comes a time that we all have to let it go and move on. The only real solution is to have a system that: helps the refs improve their capabilities, protect the integrity of the game, and better coaching of the players.

The punches... I posted that video yesterday in another thread and got few responses. Look at the uppercuts to the head area. What a POS...

While bad calls are disappointing even infuriating the bottom line is that teams which dominate don't depend on this play or that play. They play strategically not tactically. The game is won or lost not by the tactics of a particular play or drive but by having strengths that your opponent can't answer during the entire game. Having a running game or passing attack that your opponent can't defend consistently or having a defense that your opponent can't break (ideally having both), is domination. When you build a team that dominates, individual penalties, in most cases, won't decide the game.
Alabama has built a dynasty using that approach. They are relentless the entire game and setbacks on a particular play or drive don't seem to phase them. They know where they can dominate their opponent and have the discipline to exploit them the entire game. They have mental toughness and strategic awareness; qualities that come down from Lou Saban. That is what I hope CBN can build here.

Well my friend, clearly we are not close to “dominating” anyone. So while your post is true, it doesn’t apply to our team right now. Bottom line, Georgia was far superior, they got us in a hole early, and the refs made the bad calls to make sure we stayed down.

I was at a party with friends from Michigan and California and New Jersey who had no stake in the game commenting how the refs must have been bought by Georgia

Appreciate your sentiments and there is a lot of truth to them but that doesn't change the fact that Bama has often benefited from non calls at crucial times that often lead to wins.if they have that much talent stacked already why do they need plays like this to tip the scales?

All that talent. All that discipline. All that dominance. And they almost certainly lose this game if the refs make an obvious call on a blatant hold directly In the heart of the action that literally sprung the play and won the game...

What a bullshit take. You in your vast football knowledge have gleaned this after 8 games in year 1??? Good grief.

Have you ever heard of the phrase, "the bench is a coach's best friend"? What we need, and quite frankly so does the professional leagues of all types, is a "bench" for the refs. Actually, what we need is a hierarchical setup like the sport(s) themselves. You are young (allegedly) and begin at the bottom and then when you get better (and more mature) at your craft, you move up as far as your skills allow. BUT, if you are less-than-ideal at the next level (ie, The Peter Principle) and there are plenty of others to take your place at the lower level(s), they move up and you move back. Then you can either realize that you need to get better, be content at your correct level (there are plenty of career AAA level baseball players), or decide to leave the profession.

Now, if we are going to have this all work in earnest, what we need is enough talent (potentially) to fill the demand. And that means there HAS to be pay that brings in folks. The NFL has player development correctly, whereas the NBA does not, because there are WAY more guys wanting to play than openings in the NFL but in the NBA too many teams are trying to obtain too few quality pieces. And so, the NBA has a silly financial system, IMO. My point is, raise the pay for refs if you want more quality folks to get into the profession.

And as I said, no one gets to get to the major leagues and are entitled to remain there. This isn't the SCOTUS.

If other places are as bad as Tennessee, where my grandchildren play, there aren't enough T.S.S.A.A. refs to choose from. Many retired during the covid times and, for whatever reason, there haven't been replacements. They aren't nearly as experienced and some are outright dishonest . . . but there is no real option B. Some smaller high school games have to be held on different nights because there aren't enough refs to go around with a full crew for Friday nights any more! That's been all season in football and last year in basketball. Until fans demand better officiating (and not sure how they could do anything but complain) it's getting worse it seems. Maybe they could pay a bonus for a mistake-free officiating game, or one with few missed big calls? IDK.

Yes, because (except for Covid fear) they aren't getting enough out of the experience to do the job. This isn't a "ra-ra America" focus, it is a "what is in it for me (mainly financial)" focus. And we haven't addressed it at all. And so, we rely on folks who are sort of civic, but who may ultimately be found incompetent, corrupt, or both.

I totally agree with you. Part of being good enough to win in all scenarios is to have a deep and strong bench. Also, a group of coaches who have a history of continuity with each other and with the players.

The past decade has been a carousel of coaches and players. At this time the Gator has 123 player on its 2022 roster. 46 are defensive players and 77 are offensive players. 56 are Freshmen, 43 are Sophomores, 16 are Juniors, 9 are Seniors.
Thus, we do not have depth in seasoned players. Nor doe we have the depth with the continuity of players and the coaches being together.

One question: If we were 7-0 and UGA was 4-3, who do you think get the calls? I’ll hang up and listen.

I have seen the same thing; blatant holding mostly. But along with that they have all of the above. We don't; not yet. Don't get me wrong I'm not a Bama fan but I see tremendous coaching going on there; on and off the field. It also doesn't hurt to have a roster full of 5* players. I believe Bama gets them because they know there's a pipeline to the NF there. At Florida we have had a coaching carousel for ten years now. That's not conducive to attracting 5* talent

I just don't buy "the refs must have been bought by Georgia". "You cheated na na na. No, YOU cheated na na na". That is classic sour grapes for kids.

I wonder if there are directives from SEC rec hq to protect certain teams? Think about it. 2 teams from the SEC making the playoffs get them 2 big paychecks.
