Leads me to believe this movie was written by a Gator. As an aside this reminds me when the media guide put a crocodile on the front page during the zooker years.
I don't know who had UF roots in the Devils advocate but there were multiple references to the Gators in that movie. Also century tower made a cameo in the 1980s movie parenthood with Steve Martin.
One part I specifically recall is the shot of the church scene which is/was on 23 Ave near the I-75 overpass. It looks quite different now that a newer church has been built in front of the original structure.
Shawn Mendez makes a very sensitive Croc...almost vegan. Did they seek our approval for Image & Likeness?
I got to see the filming. Was actually running around in the scene where Steve's kid is shooting from Century Tower. A couple of friends were in the graduation scene...also shot on campus.

The characters hometown setting was Gainesville, FL. I loved this movie as a teenager growing up in Central FL. Where does the devils advocate take place? Gainesville, Florida Plot. Kevin Lomax is a Gainesville, Florida defense attorney who has never lost a case. As he defends schoolteacher Lloyd Gettys against a charge of child molestation, he belatedly realizes his client is guilty."
Saw this in the theater in Gainesville when it came out. When the newspaper with Danny wuerffel praying after a touchdown appeared the whole theater cheered. Same for anytime orange and blue showed up or when he said he wasn't going back to Gainesville lol
