We need to steal a couple of games to not have a losing season this year. Which games do you see us most likely to win?
I'm pretty sure math says we will need to steal 3 rather than a couple to avoid a losing season unless you are counting Ugahly in in the W column
I’m counting Vandy as a win. That would give us 4 wins. Win 2 out of the 5 mentioned. That would give us 6 wins. 6-6 is not a losing season. It’s not a winning season, but it’s not a losing season, either.
We're a team that has beat the 11th ranked team, and lost to the 8th and 13th ranked teams by a combined 15 points. I'd say we stand a good chance in all our upcoming games except UGA. The negativity around here would make you think we've been losing to FCS teams. UF is favored 11 at Missouri and SC sucks so I'd say the odds are good.
If the offense is consistent and improves we can hang with anyone. Staff seems to be walking the fine line between lighting up the scoreboard and playing ball control. Maybe they've got it right. It's got to be maddening trying to win with less than stellar defense and special teams. I'll say we have a good chance to win all our home games. fsu will be interesting as always and we will need to be an improved team with a killer mentality to win there on a Friday night.
Besides the fleabags, we have as good a shot as our opponents. With 3 games we should win. FSU, lsu, am all winnable, 7-9 wins should be what we are looking at. Our defense would have to step up to get them all for sure.
Thank you. Not saying we're elite and can just assume wins, but what have any of these teams 5 teams shown that makes these game seem unwinnable or even have to "steal" them
Sometimes it’s not what other teams have ‘shown’ but rather it’s your own that leads to concerns. This version of UF football has been maddeningly inconsistent. Now if they can string together some games in the SEC of getting progressively better, maybe folk can hope a little more. But after 5 games, there has been reason to believe that it might be more than challenging to win enough of those back end road games to get to a winning record.
I think we have to play with a sense of urgency to win ANY of the games left on our schedule. A lot of how that goes depends on the coaches and I’m onboard with Coach Napier. That being said, I think we finish regular season 8-4.
7 is what I thought would be achievable and respectable as a one game improvement which Napier got in his first year at ULL. This year is about surviving the blow after blow after blow from the previous 3. Stop and admire a staff who is recruiting 110% to restore the program while scrapping out wins.
After we yet again mailed it in vs Kentucky, I am not counting any future game as a win except for Vandy. We've had trouble getting up for Mizzou in the past as well and they have thrashed us. Hopefully we will see some of Napier's program building work this week and next.
We could either win or lose every game left on the schedule, except Georgia and Vandy. But, if we can stay healthy at key positions, I think good coaching will make this team better every week. Need to see more rapid improvement in the defense, though. With all that in mind, I see the rest of the season possibly going like this: Close win over Missouri at home Toss up against LSU at home Win against SC at home Close win against fsu at the cesspool Sound win against Vandy Non-competitive loss against the mutts Toss-up against aTm, Dumbo, and the Cheer Boys in College Station So, splitting the toss-ups, we could still end up 8-4, which was my original prediction before the season began. But, again, we could lose six more games if the wheels fell off. I'm going with 8-4 just to make me feel better. Must beat fsu, regardless.
I do t understand why people think the game against the bull puppies isn't winnable. They struggled Kent state and most the game against Missouri. Is it going to be a tough game? Sure, but I wouldn't say it's unwinnable.
I'll be the Debbie downer. Until the defense shows that can stop or even slow down a run or passing game I won't expect much the rest of the way. As others have stated, I'd just be happy with tangible improvements. Our inability to force punts this year is beyond bad. Not sure I've seen anything like it before. It's not about how good other teams are but how poor we have performed regardless of opponent
Vandy not on the list - schools are posted right there on the thread title "Missouri, LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and FSU" So put me down for Mizzou, FSU and SC
Mizzou is the key. Lose to them and we have a losing season. Win and we have a winning season. It is hard to know the identity of either team. We have lost to two very good teams, beat Utah and but had trouble with South Fla. Mizzou hasn't beaten anybody. They should have won at Auburn. They lost to a good Kansas State team and played GA really tough.
