Castleton Parked, Primed, Pumped for Big Fifth Year - Florida Gators

"Last year was a really big disappointment for me," Castleton said of the '21-22 season during which he played through a painful shoulder injury, ended with a 20-14 record and the program's first absence from the NCAA Tournament since 2016. "I just feel like I let the school down, let this program down. I was hurt, and that was part of it, but I'm healthy now and with Coach Golden I think it's going to be a great season."

I'm excited to see what he can do this year, especially if he stays healthy.

About the best outcome for everyone, and it is quite possible, is that he foregoed going to the G league or Europe in order to get a better audition for the NBA as a stretch 4/weakside rim defender while we are in contention for the SEC regular season championship. Obviously that means we have the players to do some of the stout work on the inside while he gets in some valuable work and coaching.

    I am optimistic.

CC didn't let the school down at all. For most of the season he was the best player we had.

A guy who has not hit a single three point shot going into his fifth year probably isn’t a stretch 4 in the making. But who knows… he could surprise us with the threes this year. He does have good shooting form.

Great article. I loved how Coach knew not to put the hard-sell on him.
The future is bright for Gator hoops.
I hope that CC hits a few 3s early in the season, even if that doesn't become a big part of the offense. It'll force defenses to unpack the paint, and I get the feeling that CC will be a good passer and make them pay for it. CTG will have plays drawn up for lots of cuts to the hoop.

Agreed...great article. Impressed by both CC and Golden here and if this teams gels as hoped it is going to be a great year. Excited about this season.

I am certain Golden will get him to anticipate and pass out of double teams better this season, which would make him much more dangerous.

He'll be just fine. He runs the floor well for a 6'-11" guy.
