The kitchen will be closed tonight as we’re pizza hungry so we’ll be making a trip to Fat John’s Pizza to pick up our supper and enjoy it at home.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine will go well with our meal.

Supporting local business is always a good thing. When we get take-out for dinner it is always local and never a national chain unless my son orders Dominos Pizza. Not good, but way better than it used to be.

Got the KJ started for jerk chicken. Half is set low for a high temp direct sear and half is indirect and high to finish it off.

Tonight we’re going with simple and good—I’m grilling cheeseburgers with chips as our side.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are perfect with the menu.

Thunderstorms off and on pretty much all day today.

I have finally found my dream place. I have been to 48 states. 79 countries (lived in 4).

I am in Nashville right now and they have live music literally all day. In every bar and there are dozens of them! I don’t see how I can make it to all of them but I am determined to try!!!

Getting ready to have Hattie B’s hot chicken. I love this city and I have been here for 2 hours!!!

Don't go for the What the Cluck. The Hot is hot enough and I like Thai hot.

If you have time take the RCA Studio tour. When I took it the guide asked what artist us tour goers wanted to hear the most about. Elvis was #1 followed by Dolly Parton. I said Chet Atkins. RCA built the place for him. Great guitar player.

My wife and I went to Nashville for a weekend with free Southwest tickets we got from being bumped from a flight. Got to see the Gators play the Dores in their weird gym. Just before Covid got serious. Good seats behind the bench. LOL.

I got Damn Hot. The one below Cluck You. It was solidly hot. Not outrageous but definitely had heat. A really good sandwich. Worth the stop.

And by the way, the potato salad was outstanding. A perfect compliment to the hot chicken sandwich.

One time through Nashville I tried to go to Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, but they were closed. They are the original.

The Nashville strip of bars/restaurants is great. Make sure you drop in on the really rocking karaoke bars, they are a blast!

Austin, Texas and Athens, Georgia have great music scenes but nothing like Nashville. I love the Loving Spoonful song Nashville Cats.

Chicago used to have a fantastic live blues scene back when I was a kid. After that it was "folky" things like John Prine and Steve Goodman. And some woman singer that was great and I can't remember her name.

Just remembered her name: Bonnie Koloc, if I spelled it correctly. Great, great, great and never got any national exposure.

Prince's is amazing. Line for Hattie B's was too long, so I learned about Prince's and headed up that way (old North Nashville location). No regrets whatsoever. The story line is entertaining as well, too:

The story of Prince's Hot Chicken in Nashville

I think the original location closed down (that was a treat to visit).

We should be together this afternoon/evening. We’re doing the blackened Mahi-mahi hoagies dressed with fresh shredded lettuce and diced up vine ripe tomatoes with Joe-Patti’s cocktail sauce on the side.

Homemade French fries are our side.

The longnecks are ice cold and the wine is chilled.

Some day we will do this.

I used to do lots of work for Eglin AFB but those days are long gone.

Maybe on a road trip to Omaha.

Drive to New Orleans and take the City of New Orleans to Chicago and then take Amtrak to Omaha. Maybe an overnight in Chicago with my family.

Tonight we’re going to be treated to Ms. Jan’s homemade chicken’n’dumplings. We will have a pot of fresh zipper peas for our side. We will also have toasted BBQ bread covered with garlic butter.

It’s been hot and humid here today. The ice cold longnecks will surely be appreciated today as well as Ms. Jan will enjoy her chilled wine.

Going to a friend's house for grilled pizza tonight. Bringing two bottles of good wine.

Spent part of the day inventorying our rental house after renters moved out. LOTS of crap left over and dog damage to doors and woodwork. That is hard to fix. Our cleaner thinks he can take much of the leftover stuff to Goodwill or his church for a rummage sale. Lots of kitchenware and even a coffee maker.

It was pristine when they rented it and it is a pit now.

It would take me six weeks to take it back to where it was even after it is cleaned.

The $1000 damage deposit won't cover anywhere near at all.

I am going to ask my wife if we should fix it up and sell it instead of renting it out again.

I am getting tired of this.
