As typically would be expected, you cite only opinion and no statistics. I also note a glaring absence of any analysis into the the statistics i cited which dealt specifically with the three national championships we won. That would be the most relevant criteria since having an average season isn't the ultimate objective of having a football program here at Florida. Perhaps it is to you. Spurting out nonsensical claims about my love affair with Bowden and FSU only displays a profound lack of research on your part into the history of my posts and comments as a member of this site. There are few alumni that have as great a passion for the University of Florida as I do.

I would not expect a person as fundamentally incapable of getting past their orange and blue lenses to understand the importance of having a viable state competitor. While it hasn't hurt LSU, I can point to in state rivalries all across this country that would probably make the respective programs that a part of that rivalry less significant on the national stage if they did not exist.

Your insistence upon reliance on what appears to be the logical and desired outcome blinds you to reality. This is why I specifically cited the recruiting comparisons for FSU and UF during our championship seasons. The fact that we had to beat FSU in the Championship game should have been enough to convince anyone who could even minimally scrutinize this with some objectivity. I see that you are the exception to the rule.

He helped rebuild Marshall's program after the crash, and put more players in the pros than Bryant, Myer and Paterno put together.

You live in a f'n dream world and can only judge people by their affiliation with a criminal justice system that is largely designed to destroy an entire segment of our society by keeping them impoverished and enslaved.

Meyer it has been alleged enabled Hernandez to become the monster he became, yet you say nothing about his antics. 99% of the Division 1 programs would choose Bobby Bowden over Meyer any day for head coach, and quite frankly we would have also if we had had the opportunity.

Maybe you should look up the terms "direct causation" and "incidental occurrence." And after that, you might take a look at "fallacious arguments."[/QUOTE]

Maybe you should cite some statistics that proves it was an incidental occurrence rather than bore us with your feigned sense of intelligence. The fact is that we had to beat FSU in a NC championship game to win a championship. Was that an incidental occurrence? LMFAO!!!!!

Whatever. But attacking a person's intelligence because you don't like being disputed is considered to be bad form in most instances. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though and just assume that you actually are bright enough to realize that fact, but that you just don't care. Have a nice life laughing boy.

Bowden arrived at FSU 10 years before we were put on probation!!! In those 10 years, FSU had 3 top ten finishes and 7 top 20 finishes. They were not part of the ACC and typically played the toughest schedule in college football. Your comments are complete gibberish. Bowden's rise HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR PROBATION or being in the ACC. In all the years that Florida played football, our first top 10 finish wasn't until 10 years after Bowden had 3 in his first 10 years as head coach at FSU. That is to put his legacy into perspective.

FSU's achievements under Bowden speak for themselves. You can attribute his success and the success of the program to their play in the ACC, but FSU was a terror long before they became an ACC school. The fact that you convenient ignore that fact not only weakens your comments and severely diminishes your credibility. This is a man who put 167 men in the NFL 34 of which were first round draft picks. 14 times FSU finished in the top 5. You don't do that by merely beating ACC teams. He beat us 17 times out of 37 meetings. Are we an ACC caliber program? There was a stretch where they won 11 straight bowl games probably all against non ACC teams. So your argument is pure hogwash and not worthy of any other rejoinder.

I respect your love for Florida. But it is unhealthy and it clouds your judgment. Give credit where credit is due. When we were dominating in the Leak-Tebow days, FSU went out and got Jumbo and turned the ship around. It is the healthy in state competition that drives these programs. When one or more of us is weak, other schools pilfer players from the state a lot easier. Georgia and Clemson would be nothing without Florida HS talent flocking to their programs.

Ohio State, Georgia, and LSU not having in state competition hasn’t really hurt them. Having great in state games creates a buzz that might be helpful, but I really don’t think it is much more beneficial than big conference games. I don’t have a problem with FSU and Miami being down and don’t think it negatively impacts us. Us having sub par coaches and teams is the issue.

Don't care to know FSU or Miami's history. If I wanted to know that I'll get on their m. boards. I'm biased, so you can say all the good/positive things about having FSU or Miami around and I will still say no to their existence.
My question is why are you in full support of them becoming good? People already mentioned why teams like OSU, Georgia, LSU, and Bama are benefiting from lack of compétition in their state.

We need them because NIL is not everything yet. People in the state of Florida look at the in state games to shape their college choices especially if they are going to stay close to home. IF FSU sucks record wise, then our beating them does not necessarily sway HS Florida talent on the fence. If the two teams are ranked in the top 20, who wins the game can have a major impact on the winning team's success in landing an in state recruit. In addition, if we lose in the SEC championship game or don't even get to the game, if we beat FSU, we have a better chance at players in the state who are going to stay in state. Perhaps you guys don't listen to the players and the coaches on Florida when they talk about that game. But it stands to reason that team wins the rivalry game can impact what school a HS player in the state goes to.

Name one other coach in college football whose team finished in the top 5 14 years in a row? That is almost complete dominance. That means you are at worst losing 2 games a year.
