Both teams in action today after byes. Women this morning with a crucial match vs Arky.....4 seed vs 5. Win and UF should lock up a regional hosting slot. That's something they need to at least advance to nationals. Men play later today vs 9 seed LSU. Shouldn't be too much trouble.
Nice finish on court 1 for 6-3 win, but court 2 loses so Arky takes the doubles point. See what they are made of in singles. Veteran team can't win this at home then not much hope for postseason anyway. Looks like Shelton back in the lineup at 6, Berlin sits
Midway point of first sets Kessler down 1-3, really struggling with her serve Zein down 0-3, her matches are always streaky so we will see how this goes Dudney up 3-1 Briggs up 3-1 Dahlstrom on serve 2-2 Shelton up 3-1
Kessler finds her serve, up 5-4 now Zein hits a streak, 6-4 Dudney solid 6-2 Briggs blows that 3-1 lead, loses 4-6 Dahlstrom at 5-5 Shelton 6-1....nice to see after her recent struggles 3 first set wins, 2 still up for grabs. Need 4 matches
Kessler rolling, up 3-0 now...should be good in this match Zein up 3-1, need to maintain Dudney up 3-2 Briggs 2-2 Dahlstrom loses 1st set TB 4-7 Shelton absolutely scorching, great to see 6-1 6-1.....if she has found her game again that would be huge
Kessler wraps her match, now 2-1 UF Zein had 2 points to go up 4-1, in a blink she is down 4-5...typical Zein Dudney at 6-5, can't get the break in this set Briggs at 6-5, nice if she can force a 3rd Dahlstrom finds her stride, rips thru the 2nd set 6-0...on to a third. She often has trouble sustaining, something to watch
Briggs finally gets a break and wins 2nd 7-5 Dudney in a tiebreak Zein broken to lose her second set Will now have to win a 3rd set to claim the match
Dudney trailed entire TB, down 4-5 and wins 3 straight to claim a huge point Dahlstrom 2-0, Briggs 1-0, Zein 1-0
Assuming TAMU cruises today, we will see if UF can raise their game for postseason. Long shot, but at least it's at home. I'm kind of reconciled to the high bar winning a regional
I stopped setting the bar anything above last 16 like three years ago. It’s a solid blood pressure move.
Me too, BUT I thought Kessler returning and the Briggs and Shelton additions would make top 8 viable. That hasn't happened
Men take the doubles point with solid play First sets wrapping in singles Shelton 6-3 Riffice 6-1 Vale 6-3 Andrade 6-2 Siimar 6-2 Goodger only negative, lays an egg 2-6 Really nice focus thus far
So much for focus from all Shelton 5-3 Riffice 4-4 Vale 3-5 Andrade 2-5 Simmar 5-2 , nice outing for him, hasn't played singles lately Goodger 4-5, not the way to get back onto the singles roster
