No one said there was. But Russian imperialism cannot excuse American imperialism either. But from what I've seen on this thread, many are taking the opportunity to do just that.

This assumes we take some sort of dominion over NATO countries. We really don’t. They are all sovereign nations. Hell we can’t even really get most of them to actually do what they say they will do, as far as NATO commitments.

You think this applies in countries where the Russians basically destroy opposition to the govt? Russia is going in with a kill list. To destroy opposition to Russian rule inside Ukraine (reportedly basically all the leaders of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution are marked).

Hackers? Man, they'll try everything and anywhere they could possibly infiltrate.

Isreal hacked Syria's radar system because they have probably the baddest ass intel ops on teh planet, and Syria, not exactly the best intel defense. Point being, because they could.

Lay hackers do not have quite the resources that Israeli intel has, and Russia's defenses are probably a fair amount more sophisticated than Syria's (Russia's to Ukraines, presents a better probability).

....but I suspect the hackers will try. In fact, very little doubt they will. Both ways.

Biden said the US would stand, militarily, with active engagement, with our NATO allies.

    Ukraine is not in NATO

Apparently the Hawks on this board want active engagement, if it was a non nuclear world, I would agree.

For those that listened Putin suggested that as an option.

I fully support the Presidents decision.

Nuclear Holocaust over a non NATO member is not a sane choice IMO

I don't think it's even close to equivalent to our staging troops in Europe, if that is what you are implying.
If you wanted to say this was on par with our folly in Iraq, then sure.

The issue is if a nation state intervenes with cyber warfare you don't know what Russia has available to retaliate. We are not talking about some mediocre nation that hasn't invested in hacking capabilities.

That said the hacking will go beyond government and military disruption. It will be a disruption to the entire populace that could/would include cyber attacks on allied nations nations as well. Ransomware disrupted oil distribution for an extended period of time. How much disruption do want and how far are you willing to go? Keep in mind retaliation does not have to come from Russia as others may see this as I'm next so I'm acting now.

In essence cyber warfare has connotations similar to nukes.

The difference is he'd let Putin invade and praise him while doing it. Would Putin do it? Considering there really is no rhyme or reason I think he would've eventually made the move.

We'll have to disagree on Cruz's belief.

Really? What proof have you even offered?

Here's my proof that will shut you up for good. Putin knows Biden is spineless because Putin ran both Obama and Biden off when both were in the WH for 8 years. Did Obama and Biden do anything when Putin took Crimea? Nope. Just hit Russia with meaningless sanctions that only made Russia more powerful. It's ironic in the 7 years since we hit Russia with these sanctions, Putin got stronger. Their military is by far equal than ours in many aspects and in others surpasses us. They are begging us to defend Ukraine because Putin knows in a ground war he has us and he does because of all the money he spent upgrading new technology and armaments meant for a ground war. Putin is Kasparov and Biden is Gomer Pyle is terms of chess. Putin has been planning this for a decade.

Biden even handwrapped a gift to Putin when he won the WH. Biden first blessed Putin by killing the Keystone pipeline ending our net exports and once again making us dependent on foreign oil and gas. Then he backed out Trump's Nord Stream 2 axing of that deal, then backed tracked but was already too late. Putin already got what he needed to invade Ukraine. Ukraine will be Russian by Monday. Then he will execute all political leaders in Ukraine and seat his own. And if you think these new sanctions will have any impact on Russia, man you are gullible. This isn't the 1980s. There are ways to trade no matter how many sanctions you hit a country with. North Korea has been laughing all the way to the bank with the harshest sanctions of any country. Russia has many sources to bypass any US-backed sanctions.

And all of what you said is true. But Trump's praise and support of Putin's invasion show that Trump wouldn't even go as far as sanctions or even a stern word if Putin pulled this. He'd approve, like he had now by his own words & the words of other supporters. So as bad as Biden is, as spineless and blundering as he is, he's not saying hey great job, we should take some pointers.

Voters had fecal soup and fecal sandwich as choice 1 & 2. Both sides would do well go remember and give voters ANYONE other than these 2 in 2024.
