It’s one thing to want to maybe stick to NATO obligations rather than to send U.S. troops to a country we do not have that sort of full obligation to. There is also the reality of directly engaging a nuclear power. That has “end of days” possibilities. We’d need to be damn sure about what we were fighting for. I pretty much agree with what Biden is doing here to this point, and I also don’t want to see us enter Ukraine. But to say “doesn’t bother you one bit”? That’s just a terrible take. Tell me you are a sociopath without actually saying you are a sociopath….it’s that bad.
Agreed this is why President Biden has stressed to no end that NATO nations stand solid in their agreement. Ukraine is the sacrificial lamb. Will Putin test NATO or will he stop with Ukraine and regroup waiting for the opportune time of a global crisis such as the pandemic? Putin is no fool he will take what he is given and use that as the marker to bolster Russian solidarity. The weakness of the west is clearly on display what others (Iran, China, North Korea, etc...) take from this is the ultimate question? Will the world be emboldened to settle scores such as India and Pakistan, China and Taiwan, North Korea and South Korea all have festering wounds and mounds of contention.
I’m a retired SrNonCom. People want war? Get prepared to come home in body bags or at least the small fragments the recovery teams find. Maybe a traumatic quintuple amputation. I don’t want a war in the Ukraine. I would not want to see him die over this.

Ukraine does not have the extremely difficult topography (mountains) that Afghanistan has, nor the centuries of history as a country fighting off invaders with guerilla warfare. It would be a lot of work for Ukraine to build hundreds of mountains and develop the equivalent of centuries of guerilla warfare experience.
A lesson every Jewish person understands. I do. We should also remember that Ukraine is not the first country Putin has rolled into in his zeal to re-instate the Iron Curtain.

hahahaha. Seriously though. Russian govt probably should be booted from all these platforms as they basically can only use them for a propaganda war at this stage. Same rules as applied to Trump should obviously apply to them since they have far exceeded Trump. These platforms need to be more on top of this.
I think that the U.S. should provide air support for Ukraine. Not necessarily bombers, but enough fighters to secure the skies and prevent the Russian air force from supporting their ground troops. And we should make an effort to sink every Russian navy ship with offensive capabilities in the Black Sea. If we keep the fighting regional and keep our involvement minimal, it is very unlikely that the fighting will escalate into WWIII. We should also pressure Britain, Germany and France to provide ground troops to drive the Russians out of Ukraine. The mere threat of NATO troops entering the battle (with U.S. planes overhead) would probably be enough to get Putin to back out of Ukraine. Remember, the U.S. action (or inaction) in Ukraine will be sending a message to China. Inaction could very likely be seen as a green light for China to invade Taiwan. It also affects the next Russian move. Putin is unlikely to be satisfied with invading one neighbor, especially if it is a cakewalk. Inaction would also be seen by Putin as a green light to invade other non-NATO countries.
I don’t disagree and expect we will see this in the coming days. My point was that the outrage is misplaced.
They have bolstered the borders of the NATO countries and have aircraft up to deter Russian inroads into those territories. Russia isn’t going to act immediately against a NATO country. Putin is playing a longer game and will wait for the political winds to change in the US. Btw/ I don’t disagree with supporting Ukraine militarily. There comes a point when an authoritarian with expansionist ambitions must be confronted.
Russia can easily strike the US so don’t think we attack without provocation. Their attack on Ukraine is not a provocation
uftaipan has made it clear he serves in the national guard and has been deployed into combat zones. So he would go to Europe if ordered. I think he deserves more than such a flippant comment, esp considering he is a very good poster (not some gung-ho right winger or keyboard tough guy). He is generally informative IMO. I don’t agree with his Ukraine take, but he comes at it from an informed and thoughtful place.
Cool so he has some training. Will probably be useful for them if he thinks we aren’t doing enough. I’ll tell that to anyone who wants more war and death for others to carry out and is not going to put their ass on the line.
