The national case rate is starting to tic down again - 7 day average down to 64,200 from 72,800 a little over a week ago. I think the vaccinations are starting to catch up to the increased social activity that spurred this mini-spike in the first place. I'd expect the numbers to gradually continue to decline over the next number of weeks. The numbers on the vaccinations are amazing -- something like less than 6000 covid cases amongst 75 million people who are fully vaccinated. The anti vaxxers will continue to get covid, albeit at lower rates thanks to all the responsible people who did get vaccinated. But the vaccinated are pretty much free and clear of it now.

I traveled from Northwest Ark airport to Myrtle Beach SC today to go on a golf vacation. Both planes were packed and everyone was wearing a mask. The airport in Charlotte where we connected was packed. I think everyone is starting to travel again. Lots of people on the beach in Myrtle Beach as well.

    I still won't leave my house. :D:eek:

Okay, I'm not that bad but close enough. I got together at a coffee shop with my dept chair on Friday just to talk and I'll cop to lunch at 5 guys with two colleagues right after getting my second dose. I felt guilty.

But that's as much as I'll venture for now.

My wife and I just spent a week in Yosemite Apr 9-17. We were both fully vaccinated in late March. Flew FLL to SFO with a layover. We sprung for first class so we weren't sitting on top of a random stranger. Most flights were quite full, but mask wearing was good, and the overall experience was much better than I expected. Really glad we were able to go - needed a vacation!

A private school in Miami, citing false claims, bars vaccinated teachers from contact with students.

Agree completely. The sooner we stop teaching critical race theory the better.

I think a distinction should be made between an "anti-vaxer" and someone just awaiting full approval by the FDA for this one vax.

What portion of those choosing not to receive the vaccine do you think fit this? If a person lacks trust in the vaccine, it's highly unlikely they trust the FDA. These people embody a culture of mistrust.

Yeah if someone doesn't trust the vaccine yet, they likely never will. There are hundreds of millions of test cases out there now, including myself and many others on this board, and very few reports of adverse reactions other than the usual minor day of/day after stuff that comes along with many vaccinations.

You can't really pigeon hole more than half the country into being anti vaxers with this one...as time passes, most will end up getting it.

You're right, which is why nobody did such a thing.
