Fair point. But have folks on the right called these people traitors as they tried to undermine our democracy and elections. There is a reason that treason in the US gets the death penalty. One who robs a TV is a criminal. One who tries to destroy our country is both a criminal and a traitor.

Well to establish treason we have to know what the intentions were. Would you say Antifa's overall purpose is to overthrow the US government as it stands now? While the actions of actually storming a capitol building is definitely a step up, especially during official events taking place inside but how much different is that from burning down cities and police stations and all that? I condemn them all personally.. There aren't enough right wingers left on this forum to get a true sense of what they think or for them to chime in about those who stormed the building. We still don't even know who most of them are. I like to wait for all the details to come out because a day or two into or after an event is not enough time to properly figure out just who is responsible and for what reasons.

My true thoughts are that most of the most violent ones and those who actually initiated breaking into the capital are Far-right wing extremists who were never looking to simply peacefully protest outside of the building.

Point to me trying to justify yesterday's events. Point to anywhere I said yesterday's events were okay.

I never did any of that. Enough lies. Enough gaslighting.

Ok I read it and there's a link to the New York Times. It stated that two LEOs confirmed the man on life support had been hit in the head with a fire extinguisher.

Again, if this were a BLM riot and these were BLM fatalities, buildings all over America would be burning right now and everyone here would be talking about systemic racism and empathy.

That doesn't make what happened yesterday okay. It's not. It's evil. A whole lot of people should be arrested. All I'm saying is, spare me the crocodile tears. A whole lot of Democrats right now who are crying bloody murder are perfectly okay with violence, rioting, vandalism, and looting if it's in the name of Black Lives Matter. I refuse to listen to those people.

You’re attacking a poster who has condemned the attacks on our democracy.
No reason to do that unless you’re one of the deniers of truth in trumps army.
There is no comparison between Black Lives Matter protests and what we all witnessed yesterday. And to equate the two, or to attack someone who is pointing that out, is truly disgusting.

I'm attacking his point regarding some of his characterizations of Trump and the allocation of blame for the riots. I'm also attacking his weak condemnations of BLM riots. I am not disputing the evil of yesterday's events. Nuance is a thing. I'd suggest you look it up.

I am not going to ignore a large chunk of the Democratic Party, the media, and a big chunk of this thread "empathizing" with rioters and looters because they happen to have the same political beliefs and view of the state of the country as they do, while these very same people scream bloody murder over yesterday's events.

Anybody who thinks one is okay, but not the other is not someone who should be taken seriously in these discussions. It's tough to have conversations with terrorists and people who support rioting and looting and those who riot and loot over political purposes in this United States of America, are people who are enabling and supporting domestic terrorism.

A whole lot of people here, desperately need a look in the mirror.

Yet, the maga army is all over social media pissed off that their actions are being attributed to Antifa. They apparently want credit for their heroic “patriotism”. How do you account for this?

How many times do I have to say yesterday's events were evil for it to register with you?

Or do I have to agree with you entirely on everything for it to register?

Just more whataboutism. Yeah we get it. Post after post of it. In a thread about the Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol yesterday, you keep bringing up BLM.

But to answer your hypothetical ('If this had been BLM...'), for starters, it wasn't BLM. BLM didn't storm the Capitol and try to overthrow our democracy. But if it had been BLM or Black people in general doing it, a lot more than just one of them would have been killed and the law enforcement/military presence would have been far greater.

    I disagree

But what you just said would be the narrative.

Not the insurrection itself. Not the storming of the Capitol building. Not the riot itself.

The rioters would be framed as victims and the LEOs would be framed as oppressors.

That's how this would've gone and you don't seem to be disagreeing with me. And what I said needed and needs to be said.

So what exactly is the problem, here?
