I just munch on them, the carrots, eggs, and tomatoes as I eat the chicken and potato salad and different crackers.
Simple and good tonight. Grilling hamburgers and hotdogs with BBQ baked beans and chips for sides. We’ve got a work day at the hunting lease today so the ice cold longnecks will be especially appreciated this afternoon and evening. Life is good in Gator Nation!
I went to Publix this morning - the one here on the island - and got some Tofu! Also an Ultimate sub - they were on sale - watermelon, milk, lettuce, Breyers black Raspberry ice cream (yum!), and some new cat food. I fed my cat when I got home and he practically ate the entire can of it. I noticed he wasn't eating so much of his dry kibble so thought this might be the ticket. And it was. He's a great cat. Outside cat for the past 14 years when he showed up as one of an orphan litter of four. He's the last one left. I have a transmission leak on my truck ('02 Silverado) so will be headed out to work on that later. Hopefully nothing major. I just had half of that sub and it was pretty good. Especially with orange drink. Today's TV coverage of Stage 14 is on CNBC. Tour de France 2020 – General classification 1. Primož Roglič (Slo) Jumbo-Visma, in 56-34-35 2. Tadej Pogačar (Slo) UAE Team Emirates, at 44s 3. Egan Bernal (Col) Ineos Grenadiers, at 59s 4. Rigoberto Uran (Col) EF Pro Cycling, at 1-10 5. Nairo Quintana (Col) Arkéa-Samsic, at 1-12 6. Miguel Ángel López (Col) Astana, at 1-31 7. Adam Yates (GBr) Mitchelton-Scott, at 1-42 8. Mikel Landa (Esp) Bahrain-McLaren, at 1-55 9. Richie Porte (Aus) Trek-Segafredo, at 2-06 10. Damn. That is pretty much my menu for tomorrow. Soaking beans right now and had to buy maple syrup and molasses today. I have all of the rest. Tonight we are taking a salad to visit some friends that are grilling pizzas. We are also bringing some nice wine. I think that our social distancing will be in their garage with all of the rain. And I think that I will spend some time sharpening knives
Bora did half of what they wanted to do today. They got Bennett out the back but maybe put in too much effort to do so. Sagan had no more teammates at the end and had to spend too much time on the front late. That hurt him in the final sprint. A rider has only so many matches in the matchbook. Peter has more than most, but he is human. Barely. Tomorrow there will be fireworks leading up to the intermediate sprint that is pretty flat up to it. No hills for Bora to use tactically so I don't see them drilling it on the front because it won't hurt Bennett. And then later it will be GC teams making desperate attempts to hurt Roglic once it gets toward the later parts of the stage. My prediction is that Bernal's team goes too early and they fail. I would not be surprised to see a breakaway rider win the stage while the GC teams are looking at each other.
Tomorrow a HC summit finish! Slope averages 7.1% with some sections as much as 12%. Peaking ahead......Monday will be a rest day and the rest of the stages will include a lot of climbing until the last day so we're in for some fantastic racing this week!
Tonight we’ve got grilled wings and a cold tray on tap. It continues with our Panhandle heat/humidity/thunderstorms to keep things hot and muggy. The afternoon/evening ice cold longnecks and chilled wine remain our preferred choices for winding down our days. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Baked beans in the oven smell great. Using great northern beans instead of navy beans. Small change in dinner menu: brats and burgers instead of hot dogs and burgers.
Pogacar has been amazing. He is a real threat, but I think only a threat to get yellow on the penultimate time trial stage where Roglic won't have his super strong team there to help him. If Pogacar had not lost about a minute with a mechanical earlier in the race it might be a different race. Put a fork in Quintana and Bernal. They are done.
I hope things don't go bad for @74nole with Sally. We are getting rain bands all the way over in Gainesville.
Right now it looks like it’ll just be some rain more than anything. Hope the folks in west Fl, Al, Ms, and La all fare as well as possible.
Has one of my tenderloin steaks tonight - so tender and moist and flavourful....mmmmm...... Will do something with my tofu this week. Good news...I found the transmission fluid leak on my Silverado and got a temporary fix on it! It was where corrosion ate away one of the lines under one of those plastic line holders. I let it sit for a day so I could see where the leak was coming from. I have two brand new replacement lines but in the meantime just cut the corroded line and put in a short section of hose with hose clamps so it can be driven without spurting fluid everywhere. Not sure what kind of tubing this is so will get some official transmission tubing tomorrow and then go see my mechanic and ask about getting both lines replaced. Was nice to have some rain free weather this afternoon to get some stuff done. Life is good....in Gator Nation!
Folks, just sold my place in Miami and am moving to Jacksonville. To make packing, etc easier I've junked all my kitchen paraphernalia. To rebuild once I get up there what would you "foodies" recommend as a starting process?
