Yeah, I would think before any type of large scale roll out, the side effects number needs to be .23%. I have no idea what is the acceptable % of side effects in the normal protocol for FDA approval for drugs.

A doctor friend and his colleagues who are on the front lines take hydroxychloroquine as a preventative

when my daughter got her prescription refilled early this week, they only gave her a 2 week supply so seems like the pharmacy might be doing some rationing or something

That sucks that she has to go to the pharmacy more often. It seems like people who took this before COVID should get priority. What do I know though?

It's hard to tell what the side effects were due to in this study, as there was no control or placebo group. The side effects are conservatively attributed to the drug until more pivotal, controlled trials either confirm or inform differently. The patients themselves were in bad shape and some under fairly drastic treatment. Just too early to tell.

i posted a video a while ago about an LA doctor have very good success treating COVID 19 with chloroquine (hydroxychloroquine) & zinc.
Here is a great explanation of why this is working so well.

    Two things I’ve heard:

From a friend who is friends with a Cabinet Secretary-the Cabinet is all loading up on airborne, in part for the zinc, and drinking tonic water for the quinine.

From an MD friend-speculation starting that children are barely impacted (unlike flu) due to their natural levels of melatonin, which is now being studied

Yep but I showed her how to signup for free delivery so she doesn’t have to go out to pick up her prescription

today i saw a graphic on herd immunity...so we will need 60% of our population vaccinated or immune to covid-19 to achieve 'herd immunity'. To ramp up production of an effective and approved vaccine and vaccinate 200,000,000 US citizens may take many, many months, 9-18 is estimated. Perfect use of the War Powers Act, wise leadership is required here?

EDIT:How Will We Know When It’s Time to Reopen the Nation?

Again, let us remember what this data is from. This was a "Compassionate Use" Trial. Not a controlled Phase 1 or Phase 2 trial. These were 53 people were deathly sick (for the most part) and were being treated with all manner of experimental treatment that local doctors could put their hands on. Further, almost everyone one of these people had one or more comorbidity factors involved.

The only way to know if the drug is doing organ damage on its own is to get data from very large Phase 2 human trials with controlled patients with known medical histories and standard treatment regimens.

A Compassionate Use Trial is not overly conclusive.

the Israeli one that went 6 for 6 was impressive. These are patients in near death conditions that all recovered without any serious side effects
