    Ya mean this WHO.....

Jan 23...."Coronavirus Is Spreading, but W.H.O. Says It’s Not a Global Emergency"
At this time, there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission outside China,” Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the W.H.O.’s director general, said at a news conference in Geneva. “That doesn’t mean it won’t happen.”

“Make no mistake,” he added. “This is an emergency in China, but it has not yet become a global health emergency. It may yet become one.”

Only way would have been a total ban on international travel Jan 1 and then forced quarantine for any returning people....

In all honestly is anyone here going to tell me they would have agreed to that then?

The point is the WHO hasn't been exactly right from the start, so pointing to them to lead the way is a bit off..

Statistics lie and are used by many people to push their narrative.

The only way to know is to identify everyone who has had the illness. I doubt that will ever happen.

But what is incorrect about the statement you quoted from Jan 23?

The point is the US healthcare system is always criticized and compared to European Socialized countries and their universal healthcare. That system seems to be failing their people far worse than the US.

US mortality rate is far lower, supposedly US citizens are pretty fat which is a big risk factor for doing poorly.

Fauci has given the same answer 15 times... Are the reporters so stupid that they have to ask again and again the same questions?

They are trying to be like a bunch of lawyers who ask and re-ask the same question over and over in a depo in a effort to get a slightly different answer... Come on.

Come on man, did you not read the qualifier "at this time" and then one sentence later, "That doesn't mean it won't happen." They weren't saying it doesn't spread from human to human, they were saying they didn't have evidence AT THIS TIME that it has spread from human to human outside of China (i.e. that all cases outside of China were travel related, not community transmission). You're smarter than this.

No the point is that even the WHO, an organization that many here seem to give such love to did not have all the correct info even into late January.

That's the point its the fact that many times we don't know all the facts right off and its very easy for arm chair quarterbacks to second guess things well after the play is over.

I think people and organizations can only reach conclusions that are supported by the information they have at the time, and by their experience in trafficking in such information. And as of January 23 the statement you bolded was factually correct.

But I also noticed the part of the quote that you didn't choose to bold:

"That doesn't mean it won't happen"

Well, it did happen and the rest of the world got to a very different place on this disease long before our government did.

I've still only seen one person out of 7.8 billion walking the Earth who said that one day the disease would just "magically disappear"

    Unfortunately he's our President.

He said 'there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission outside China'. As of Jan 23 that was true.

Maybe there wouldn’t be a need to repeatedly ask the question if Trump would keep his stupid pie hole shut about things he is clueless about.

Sure I read the qualifier, but since we are parsing every part of everyone's statement why does the WHO get a pass.

They are supposed to know all and save us...

BTW that was about 5-6 weeks into the epidemic in China (at least).

Do you think they should have been a little more cautious?

A little more cautious as in what? Say that they had evidence of community transmission outside of China when they didn't? They literally declared a global health emergency 7 days later. I think your feathers are just ruffled and you are grasping at straws. "At the time we have no evidence of human to human transmission outside of China" is a far cry from "This thing is going to disappear like a miracle" and "We have this completely under control." You know this and if you can't admit it then there's no point in further discussion.

I've been borderline obese most of my adult life while being a college wrestler, running 1/2 marathons, running 28 off in water skiing, being a gym rat, and getting after it doing field inspections covering 7 counties in Central Florida spanning decades. The charts don't tell the whole story. I just checked mine (5'8 183 lbs) and I'm overweight. Sha right. And I'm down 40+ lb's from 2 years ago.
