You kind of start to wonder what the CDC's criteria for testing is that someone who developed symptoms consistent with COVID19 while traveling in the place the outbreak first came from a place with a public outbreak wouldn't qualify for testing.

Did the delay in testing the person in California change how the medical professionals treated the suspected Coronavirus case?

They weren’t in Wuhan but another location that had an outbreak. It doesn’t really make it any better but thought I’d clarify that point.

If the person has Coronavirus I’d suspect so. The doctor sent the patient home with a self-imposed quarantine. We don’t know if the patient does or not because the CDC wouldn’t test.

Good catch, I read the "the very city" as Wuhan, but missed the outside of China in the sentence before.

Six months to a year to develop, at least a year to get approved, and then another year to productionize. By then the virus is gone. Earths defenses knows how to protect herself from invasive parasites.

And Mother Earth is working mightily to rid itself of the worst parasite. When this pandemic is over, up to a billion of us could be wiped out. (This is an estimate based upon its current rates of infection and mortality.)

    A billion?

Totally uneducated guess, but based only on numbers might end up a million deaths in U.S. *if* it gets really bad, since our govt will be totally ineffective containing it (already is most likely). I think your math is off (suggesting way above 10% mortality). Maybe you shifted a decimal, if the thing gets totally out if control it could kill 100,000,000 globally.

Hopefully when the weather heats up that could slow it down well short of that. For once we can pull for some global warming.

If weather affects the virus. And it doesn’t then migrate to the Southern Hemisphere.

To get to a billion it would have to have a mortality rate like MERS but a R0 value like Coronavirus or higher.

    Just an FYI:

    What do R0 values mean?
Three possibilities exist for the potential spread or decline of a disease, depending on its R0 value:

    • If R0 is less than 1, each existing infection causes less than one new infection. In this case, the disease will decline and eventually die out.
    • If R0 equals 1, each existing infection causes one new infection. The disease will stay alive and stable, but there won’t be an outbreak or an epidemic.
    • If R0 is more than 1, each existing infection causes more than one new infection. The disease will spread between people, and there may be an outbreak or epidemic.

Mr. President claims this coronavirus is the new democrat's hoax.

Trump says the coronavirus is the Democrats' 'new hoax'

“The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” he said from a campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina.

“One of my people came up to me and said ‘Mr. President they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didn’t work out too well.’ They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax that was on a perfect conversation,” he continued."
