I picked up a Mexican Rice San Fransisco treat last week to have with my next Mexican meal. Not too keen on refried beans though.
So @74nole - how was the 'big rain event' up in Marianna? We got some here - but not what I'd call a lot.
Finally got some rain up here in ATL this week. Its cooled off nicely and my son is now regretting the decision they made week 2 of football to practice at 6AM instead of in the afternoons. It was so brutally hot they were thinking they beat the system. Watching him come down those stairs this morning with quite a few more clothes on made me laugh at the little life choices that always seems to backfire in the end. HAHA
Sooo, I’m grilling hamburger steaks to go with leftover yellow squash and onions and green cabbage— (Mama’s always happy when the refrigerator gets cleaned out! Yep, it’s playoff baseball—Col’beers all around....
Chuck-eye steak for lunch and sauteed onions with it. I've never in my life passed gas as much as I did for two straight hours afterwards! It was off the charts! Luckily I was working by myself at one of my accounts - but it was truly amazing. Never had that reaction before. That steak was fantastic, BTW. Watched a really good Gunsmoke episode with it. Microwave Birdseye steam fresh Asian medley veggies for dinner - with lots of butter. Curtis Stone would be proud. You know what the best part was? The little cobs of corn! Coming to the end of the week. Top sirloin tonight. Take out 5-item sampler from Leonardo’s Millhopper tomorrow if wife says ok (pro tip—she will)
Late post on my supper tonight— Grilling indirect on charcoal with cherry wood smoke, half boneless pork loin with baked sweet potatoes and a fresh pot of crowder peas with pod okra on top— Play off baseball means ice cold longnecks for sure..... Life is good in Gator Nation!
Spaghetti, Caesar salad, and toasted garlic bread tonight— It’s what’s for supper—house is already smelling good! Looking forward to victory col’beers today Gators!!!
Had the last of my tamales today for pre-game lunch. All the food on the CGD set made me super hungry! Watching the game right now - good to see the Stros ahead but that strike zone was way out of whack last inning!
Getting some more light to steady rain tonight— We’ve got a pot of chicken’n’rice tonight with grilled cheese sandwiches to accompany the wet weather outside— Anyone who likes Kentucky Straight Bourbon, if you haven’t tried the Wild Turkey “Long Branch”, I would tell you thumbs up! It’s mighty smooth—I like to take a thick glass tumbler, run water over it and put it in the freezer (actually I keep some stocked there)—then 2 fingers in this frozen tumbler is very relaxing and refreshing— Life is good in Gator Nation!
Nothing exciting on the menu to report - I haven't felt too great the last two days so just consuming what is on hand - not a bad thing really. I did get some work done on my boat trailer today. I got the old torsion axle off and will be fitting a replacement up soon that I bought second hand from another Mako owner. It was muggy as all get out today - I must have sweated about 500 gallons of sweat! Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 90 so I have pushed my large work day back to Wednesday after the front goes through - supposed to stay in the upper 70's....and probably less humidity too. Much better. I have some posts on baseball and the world series to post - copied from another forum I frequent that you might find interesting so will do that. Some agree with me about losing interest after '94. Life is good in Gator Nation!
We have had the Lodge kettle working most of the day slow cooking a kettle full of beef stew—stew meat, potatoes, vidalia onions, carrots, and celery—this recipe is simple and makes really great gravy— Of course fresh jalapeño cornbread is on the side— The back porch Yeti is loaded and ready for the “Play Ball” call for first pitch of Game 1 of the 2019 WS......
Stir fried shrimp and mixed vegetables simmered in Sharwood’s Thai red curry sauce (Brit product in international aisle at Publix) over rice. Relatively low calorie and carb, and enough for one more night
Leftovers are a staple at our house and with this week’s meals tonight we’re going to have buffet choices of chicken’n’rice or beef stew for Game 2 (VerLander vs Strasburg)— Ice cold longnecks are in the Yeti and ready to go—
74- Thanks to your inspiring beef stew post, I picked up the components tonight to make it for tomorrow. Life is good in Gator Nation!
