Xavier Nixon accepts senior bowl invitation

A fourth Florida Gators football player has accepted an invitation to play in a senior all-star game.

The Senior Bowl confirmed via its Twitter account that Gators left tackle Xavier Nixon will play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, which is scheduled for Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.

Nixon will join Gators running back Mike Gillislee in the game. Gillislee accepted his invitation on Dec. 19.

The 6-foot-6, 314-pound Nixon signed with Florida out of Fayetteville (N.C.) Jake Britt as one of the top offensive line prospects in the country in the Class of 2009.

He’s started 32 of the 45 games he’s played in at Florida, including 10 starts this season. He missed the season opener as well as the Missouri and Louisiana-Lafayette game with injuries.

Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis and safety Josh Evans have accepted invitations to play in the East-West Shrine Game, which is scheduled for Jan. 19 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
