La’Mical Perine couldn’t wait to tell his mother the big news.
Running into the house after 10 pm and screaming for her may have been slightly overzealous. Her mom instincts kicked in and she thought he surely must be on fire. But once he settled down and told her about the phone call he’d just gotten, she caught some of his fire and the two have been aglow every since.
Perine had picked up his dream offer, the one he’d been holding out for; an offer from the University of Florida.
The running back who’s been a Gator fan since Tim Tebow threw his first jump pass knew that he’d ben an anomaly; a Gainesville bound player from the college football rich state of Alabama and sharing a high school resume with former Alabama star CJ Mosley.
But despite the pull from his home state’s two powerhouses, he knew he wanted to head to the Sunshine State and make a home in the Swamp.
As soon as the offer came in, Perine didn’t have to think twice about it. After letting his mother know about his dream come true, he started making plans.
Emmitt Smith, Fred Taylor and Mike Gillislee need to plan to share the notable state according to Perine, because he has major plans for his time at Florida.
GatorCountry was on hand for La’Mical’s commitment and was able to speak with him afterwards about his initial reaction and what Gator fans can expect from the running back. We also go 60 seconds with La’Mical so Florida football fans can learn more about the newest member of their family.

Nice article, Kassidy. He seems like a real good kid from a fine family. The young man can run with the ball with a gliding-style not unlike Emmett.
Great guy who is very humble.
