Quinn finalist for coordinator award

Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was named a finalist for the FootballScoop Defensive Coordinator of the Year.

Quinn is one of five finalists along with Bob Diaco of Notre Dame, Derek Mason of Stanford, Kirby Smart of Alabama and Mark Stoops of Florida State.

Under Quinn the Gators’ defense is fourth nationally by allowing just 281 yards per game and first nationally in pass efficiency defense, only allowing 91.76 yards per game.

In 2012 the Gators defense has also forced 24 turnovers and is only giving up 11.7 points per game this year, which is a big reason why Florida is 10-1 on the year.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 4 and will be selected by past winners of the award.
