Demarcus Walker (Sandalwood/ Jacksonville, Fla.) always talked about visiting Florida in the fall, but it never came to fruition.
The Alabama commit will be early enrolling, however he’ll make one more stop after the Under Armour All-America Game. Gatorcountry.com confirmed with Walker that he will be taking an official visit to Florida on Jan. 5.
“I’m taking a visit to see the Gators again on Jan. 5,” Walker said.
Perhaps the biggest turn in Walker’s recruitment came when former Alabama secondary coach Jeremy Pruitt was hired away to FSU as their defensive coordinator. Walker said that trust became an issue.
“It was just the trust part,” Walker said. “Coach Pruitt was the one I had the biggest bond with [at Alabama]. But I’m still good with Alabama.”
While on his visit to Florida this weekend, Walker just wants to evaluate how good of a situation it could be at Florida for him.
“I’m just going to see if [Florida] is the best fit for me,” he said.
Despite his August commitment to Alabama, head coach Will Muschamp has kept recruiting the 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman. The second-year head coach was in contact with Walker’s family last night.
“Coach Muschamp called my mom yesterday,” Walker said. “I don’t know what they talked about, that’s between them.
