Rudolph knows one team that will make the cut

West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman receiver Travis Rudolph has joined forces with the South Florida Express this weekend at IMG.

“Our goal is to win the whole thing out here,” Rudolph said. “We have the team out here this weekend.”

For the 6-foot, 189-pound Rudolph the recruiting process has it’s up and downs but he has been busy with the process this summer.

“Sometimes recruiting is cool and sometimes it’s crazy,” Rudolph said. “I have visited Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Georgia so far this summer for unofficial visits. I plan to visit Florida for Friday Night Lights in July.”

Florida hired a new receiver coach this spring when Joker Phillips joined the staff and for Rudolph that’s his main recruiter.

“Coach Joker Phillips is the coach I talk to the most from Florida,” Rudolph said. “Me and coach Phillips have a good relationship and he’s a great coach. I think very highly of him and he thinks highly of me was well so overall it’s going real well.”

For Rudolph some college coaches have told him he’s a better defensive back but Joker Phillips doesn’t believe that.

“Coach Phillips told me from the jump when people were calling my name at defensive back he was like you’re not a DB,” Rudolph said. “He said I’m like that next level receiver that can be a big time playmaker for Florida and ever since that moment I’ve really like Florida.”

Much Ermon Lane, Rudolph doesn’t see Florida’s lack of a passing game in year’s past as a bad thing or a negative towards Florida.

“Coach Phillips says that the whole staff is trying to get them to air the ball out more,” Rudolph said. “ I believe that and we will what happens this season but if you do your thing at any college that runs the ball and you catch the ball you will get your chance to play.”

Rudolph says that he doesn’t have any top groups but he says that Florida “most definitely” will make the cut when he does make cuts.
