LB Kain Daub lists top 5 schools

A number of Florida targets participated in this year’s Under Amour Combine, including 2014 linebacker Kain Daub (Sandalwood/ Jacksonville, Fla.).

The former LSU commitment came to St. Petersburg, Fla., for the combine looking forward to the competition between him and other top players from around the nation.

“It’s fun being out here,” Daub said. “The real fun starts with the 1-on-1 and 7-on- drills. That’s really all I came out here for, just to compete and have fun. I didn’t really come out here for the combine stuff.”

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound linebacker committed to LSU back in the summer after attending a Tigers football camp. He still considers LSU a contender, but he has since opened up his recruitment and is garnering interest from several programs.

“I’m looking at LSU, Alabama, USC, Oregon and Florida,” Daub said.

The Gators were quick to get involved in Daub’s recruitment, as they were his first scholarship offer. He plans on going back to Florida’s campus during the summer for the one of its Junior Days.

Along with being his first offer, Daub said that Florida has a lot to offer him, not only in football, but in school as well.

“I know that Florida has a good program, good coaches, good players, good defense and good academics,” Daub said. “I really don’t mind playing in 3-4 or a 4-3 defense. I can play in either one.”

His recruitment is wide open at this point, but the junior linebacker has an idea of when he would like to make a decision on a school.

“I’ll make a decision either at this time next year or right before the first game of the season,” Daub said.
