Gators offer 2014 OL Andy Bauer

While the Florida coaches are out on the road, they are also watching film of top 2014 prospects.

One of the prospects they have been watching is 2014 St. Louis (MO.) DeSmet offensive lineman Andy Bauer.

“I picked up an offer from Florida on Tuesday,” Bauer said. “I talked to coach (Will) Muschamp on the phone. It was pretty cool to talk to him for the first time. He said he thought I was good fit for him and that he liked the way I played and they need me there. He said wanted me to get down there for a weekend visit and checkout the campus and facilities. One other thing he said was he wanted me to be a Florida Gator.”

While this was the first time talking to Muschamp, this isn’t the first time the 6-foot-6, 304-pound Bauer has spoken to a Florida coach.

“I usually talk to coach (Tim) Davis,” Bauer said. “He recruits my area, so that’s who I usually talk too. He will be by my school on Thursday. He tells me that he thinks I’m athletic enough to play any position on the offensive line, and he thinks I could be a good right tackle at Florida.”

Bauer hasn’t seen Florida play in person, but he watched the offense closely on TV this fall.

“In Missouri we get all of the SEC games on TV, so I was able to watch Florida play,” Bauer said. “They are a fun team to watch play, and the offense had a good game plan this year. I can tell they like to run the ball and they have a good offensive line coach and the defense is incredible. I have heard a lot about The Swamp and its incredible atmosphere and I know the academics are good there.”

When Davis meets with Bauer on Thursday he is hoping to set up a potential visit to Gainesville.

“I will absolutely visit Florida. “Bauer said. “They are one of the schools I have to visit. I’m going to visit soon, maybe in January for one of their junior days or something.”

Besides Florida, Bauer will visit LSU and Oklahoma for his next three visits he says.

While Bauer doesn’t have a leader at this time, he said a few teams are standing out to him at this time.

“I’m pretty open to all of the schools recruiting me,” Bauer said. “But a few schools stand out like Florida, Alabama, LSU, Missouri, Ohio State and Oklahoma.”
