“We’re going to try to run teams off the field.”
That’s how running back Adam Lane described the game plan for the Florida Gators 2015 season.
With the redshirt sophomore seemingly in a fight for the starting position with Kelvin Taylor, Lane isn’t too worried about losing carries, saying he and Taylor will both be getting plenty of reps between the two of them. Why? Because that’ll be the new style of the Florida Gators, say the backs.
It makes sense, seeing as between the two of them, new head coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier can boast running backs like Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy.
Those names have Lane and Taylor excited as well.
With a little over a week and a half into spring ball, GatorCountry takes a look at a couple of running backs as they tell us just how the Florida Gators are going to “run teams off the field” in 2015.
With the coming end to Spring practice, news on Gator football will be slim. To me, an interesting sub-plot to the coming season is the interaction between our more spirited and ever loyal Gator fans and the observations of Coach Mac as expressed in this week’s ESPN article (the program is a ‘fixer-upper’). One faction is fervently convinced that 2015 will return the program to SEC relevancy complete with another conference championship in Atlanta. While Coach Mac is dealing with the reality of what has now indeed become a broken program; fixable but in need of much work and patience. Finally, to those who would excommunicate me for heresy against Gator Nation, I am simply commenting the feelings of some Gator fans and the observations of Coach McElwain. He said it, folks, not I.
